Topic: Jef Beck on BBC I-player

This is not to be missed

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00dwfyw

Featuring Jos Stone, Imogen Heap and Eric Clapton

Robert Plant and Jimmy Page in the audience

Ronnie Scotts is a club in London where the music comes first - no talking during the act or get thrown out - I nearly was on one occasion - I didn't realise!! Jeff Beck says "I'd like to welcome Eric Clapton who knows his way around the Stratocaster - I'd better F*c& off home  then". this is a fabulous segment of the show which I hope is to be a DVD. A  must watch - Jeffs Beatles cover is just out of this world and had Jimmy Page (in the audience) in raptures!

Enjoy

Don't get to excited, I think it's only available in the UK, but you're right Geoff it was a fantastic show.

Maybe someone could copy it to You tube - Michael - you're pretty good at that kind of stuff! Even if you just get the Beatles cover that would be great for our friend across the oggin!

Shame that Tal's bass is almost nonexistent in the mix, I really wanted to hear her stuff!

Jess,

Sorry to say it wasn't any better watching and listening on TV, either -  very disappointing.

It's a long time since I've seen JB play and I don't remember the style of playing he exhibited on the Ronnie Scott show. I don't think I've ever seen anyone have the tremelo arm (wang bar?) almost constantly in his hand. It certainly added a great dimension to his playing. Great drummer btw.

BBC4 has had some great music on since the beginning of the New Year and I'm pleased to say that this video is being repeated on Friday night/Saturday morning - see link. So if you missed it first time round, get that DVD recorder, HDD or PVR set now.

You'll also notice that that there's a repeat of the Guitar Heroes at the BBC (disappointing imo) and another guitar heroes with Jools Holland feat. EC, Page, Beck & Buddy Guy (presumably clips from different shows) and the highlight for many, a documentary on Les Paul.

I believe it is not possible to view the iplayer in the US - sorry. I don't know about the rest of Europe.

By the way, I'm not surprised I said in my above post I was impressed by Beck's drummer. He just happens to be one of the best in the world. http://www.vinniecolaiuta.com/

The DVD of the Ronnie Scotts gig is out on DVD in the UK on 30th March and Amazon currently has it for £8.79. One to put in your shopping trolley. Good value too as it's 155 mins long. big_smile

Re: Jef Beck on BBC I-player

Cheers, Paul. One word of warning: I think Amazon will charge you the price at the time of despatch so keep looking to make sure they haven't upped the price in the meanwhile.

Re: Jef Beck on BBC I-player

They charge the bst price on release day. So you are garanteed the 8.79 or if release price is lower (doubtful) you wil pay that price. Great deal!
