Topic: Brand New Interview With Legendary Guitarist Steve Lukather Online

Recently I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down and talk with legendary guitarist Steve Lukather (ex Toto), where we discussed his new solo album, 'Ever changing times', the breakup of Toto, his thoughts on the current state of the music business and much more.

For those who might not be familiar with Lukather's work outside of Toto, he has also been one of the most in demand session guitarists ever, appearing in Luke's estimation, on over 1,000 albums over the past 30 plus years.

Some of the artists' albums he's appeared on include Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Alice Cooper, Michael Jackson, Cher, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Boz Scaggs, Cheap Trick, Elton John, Joe Cocker, Van Halen, Miles Davis and Aretha Franklin. Nominated for 12 Grammy Awards, winner of 5, Lukather has also written hits for others, including George Benson,("Turn Your Love Around") and The Tubes, ("She's A Beauty" and "Talk To Ya Later") .

VERY interesting interview Keith...I never knew that much about Lukather, never realized what a seasoned musician he is.  Seems like a good guy with a great sense of humor.  Loved what he had to say about turning down Rolling Stone! LOL!

I really enjoyed the video you posted "Ever Changing Times"...I need to pick up this album now. smile

Wow, I guess I've been in a bit of a musical vacuum.
I was in the camp of people that actually LIKED Toto, but I was unaware that they were still around until recently.
Nice interview, and I plan on checking out Steve's latest endeavor.

Thanks, Luke is a great interview -and he's not afraid to mince words whatsover.

Here's a taste of what the man can do in a bluesier vein, from 1994, with Paul Rodgers on vocals on a live version of the Jeff Beck Group classic "Let Me Love You"

I like the Larry (Carlton) and Luke "Live in Osaka" disc.  Another reason I'm psyched that Joe and Larry have gotten together a couple of times.  Plenty of taste to go around with these guys.

Re: Brand New Interview With Legendary Guitarist Steve Lukather Online

I recently had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Lukather and his excellent band at a local venue a month or two ago, and he put on an great show.  The sound reinforcement left a little to be desired as I struggled to hear his vocals over the band, but nonetheless, a good effort.

Waited around for about an hour after the show with hopes of getting something signed....I was wearing my JB "Established 1979" t-shirt, and he looks at it and says "I just had lunch with Joe a week ago....what a great guitar player".

Very cool guy and man can he play....
