Topic: John Mayer guitarist collabarating on new Aynsley Lister album

Just to let you know a few things about Aynsley Lister at the moment:

Aynsley Lister is in the process of recording his new album. The album will include quite a few tracks with feature John Mayer's guitarist Robbie Macintosh (you can hear him on Mayer's Where The Light Is).

Aynsley's new album is to be released in February 2009 (looking like a good month!). He is currently in negociations with interested record companies. The hope is this will give him a bigger profile than he received on Ruf.

With a new management team and a commitment to some heavy touring next year, hopefully 2009 promises to be a great year. smile

I hope it's true. I have wanted to see him for 2 years. I liked the sound/feel of his 1st CD that was produced by Jessie Davy....Maybe he'll decide the States are worth the effort! Thanks Duncan, Cathy

As you know Cathy, I'm on Aynsley's forum too, and I've been keeping them advised of Back Door Slam's progress, in the hope that Aynsley gets the message and tours the USA. His kids are a little older now, so I think he may. Infact if I can I'll ask him when I see him next month... smile

Another little bit of news on Aynsley for you:

“Neville Martin ,editor of Guitar Techniques has just commissioned Aynsley to produce a blues techniques DVD for the magazine.
This will be split into 3 separate cover mounted CD’s, one each month for 3 months, starting in the February issue (street date mid January)”

Good news for Aynsley and ties in nicely with the release of his new album. smile

You can also hear him on My favorite Pretenders Album, Get Close and several of my least favorite McCartney albums. Although I did like Tripping the Live Fantastic. Robbie has quite a few credits to his name and should lend Aynsley's new record some credibility. Hope he does head towards the states.

Friday 14th November was Aynsley Lister's birthday and he played a superb gig before a packed house in Newcastle of which I was in attendance. This was the second British gig with Aynsley's new bass player and the band were sounding as good as ever.

Therefore I have a little bit more news on Aynsley Lister's new album. It is being mixed as present as is scheduled to be released the last week in February 2009 - which I think will make it the same release date as Joe's new album (if you preorder both, you may get free postage and packing from Amazon!).

The album will include tracks featuring Robbie Macintosh as stated above.

An email from Aynsley's management team states that Aynsley will play around 150 dates next year and the intention is for these to include the UK, Western Europe and the USA.

I'd recommend you check out Aynsley's forum if you have an interest in contemporary British Blues rock.  In addition to Aynsley's latest news, we have good discussions on other great talent and upcoming artists such as Oli Brown, Matt Schofield, Back Door Slam (one thread, lol) plus the best American blues rockers, such as Joe of course, Ryan McGarvey and John Mayer.  smile

and an excellent gig review it is too. wink

If Aynsley's coming to a town near you next year, please go and see him. You will not be disappointed as he is definitely up there with the best blues rock guitarists on either side of the pond. I was completely knocked out the first time I saw him around 10 years ago supporting Walter T and still think he's the best British blues rock guitarist I've heard.

If you love Joe (of course you do!) you'll love Aynsley too. smile
