Re: Favorite Keyboardists

Although I thought Joey De's awesome B3 sound with Danny Gatton and John McLaughlin was killer, it is still hard to beat the stride piano of Dr John.....

I need to also mention Chuck Leavell.....

Re: Favorite Keyboardists

Who's the guy who played with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King on "In Session"? I love his solo on "Ask Me No Questions"

Impressive list here Vette, but one of my all-time favorites is noticeably absent.............Leon Russell and how about Allen Toussaint, Billy Powell, and Chris Stainton?

Re: Favorite Keyboardists

So far you've all missed the best keyboardist/organist in rock history, the classically trained Jon Lord!

Deep Purple would not (and have not) been the same if he was not with the band. Have a listen to Made In Japan for some fantastic guitar organ play between Blackmore and Lord. smile

Re: Favorite Keyboardists

+ 1 for Billy Preston , solo on 'Get Back' has to be right up there.

No Ordinary Joe

Re: Favorite Keyboardists

Two more I would add to the list

Rick Wakeman

John Paul Jones

No matter how far you try to push the envelope, it remains stationery

Mr Wakeman get's my vote. Wicked sense of humour and a rather fetching line in gold capes.
