Topic: One Years After

I ran into the dude I got into a knife (scalpel) fight (surgery) with a year ago and this time he stuck a rubber hose down my nose (fiber optic scope) just like he has every two months since last year. When he was done yankin' the hose outta my nose he said congratulations John it's been a year and there's no sign of the cancer we kicked a$$ on visible at this time. Needless to say I thanked him from the bottom of my heart as well as apologized for what the Browns did to his beloved New York Football Giants on Mon. night. As I tell all my friends nowadays, if you're gonna get in a knife fight, do it with a surgeon. In lieu of congrats and all that stuff, go out and do something for somebody less fortunate than yourself, kinda like what Bizzer did in Cleveland the other night...............PLEASE!!!! Peace and love to all my forum friends.

Oh no you don't John..... you cannot stop me from posting my deepest, most heartfelt congratulations to you right here and right NOW!!!  I'll do something nice for someone else later,  as per your request, but, for right now, as I told you earlier this evening on the phone, that is just FANTASTIC, INCREDIBLE news!!!!  A HUGE important MILESTONE!!!  I am so happy for you and so glad for all of us who enjoy your company as well.  I celebrate YOU John!!!!

Thank God for talented surgeons, thank God for strong patients who are willing to do what it takes to fight for their lives, and, thank God for your healing.

Grateful and pleased to call you friend,

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: One Years After

John, my heartfelt congratulations and may your future encounters with the dude of the knifes be as pleasant.

Don´t you think it´s possible to send you CONGRATS AND ALL THAT STUFF and be aware of less fortunate people? But sometimes you HAVE to hide your shy soul.

It's a good deed to share good news. You did battle with a horrid monster and won! We all need to hear that it's possible. Life is sweeter for you now and it shows. I have no doubt your check-ups will remain clean. Congrats, Sister Cate

I couldn't possibly have put it any better myself, particularly the bit in bold. Great news, John! I am truly SO pleased for you.

Re: One Years After

Hi John,
It makes me happy to hear your good news!!!  Also, it makes me smile smile that you feel such respect towards your doctor.  Many of the best and the brightest Americans are no longer choosing medicine as a career path, but that's diving deep into off, off topic....

Being that its Breast Cancer Awareness month, I hope you don't mind if I tell a little story about cancer research. I would like to comment on two of your supporters here, Cathy and George, who secured two of Joe's guitar strings that will be made into a bracelet and auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to cancer research and support. My cousin Elisa is a two-time breast cancer survivor and owns and operates a custom jewelry business in Erie, Pennsylvania.  Other folks make guitar string bracelets and Elisa doesn't hold a patent on them, the whole point is to raise $$$ for cancer and its my cousin's way of giving back...she's happy to be alive! The idea came to her at a Bon Jovi concert and Bon Jovi along with Richie Sambora are likely to be sending their strings along shortly.  My brother Kevin is the real estate attorney for Sister Mary Scullion who received a donation from Bon Jovi  for a housing project, she promised to get the strings.  http://www.phillymag.com/articles/the_good_generation/  Keep in mind, Joe Bonamassa was the first to step up to the plate and donate guitar strings!!  (used with his DNA all over them for authenticity) wink

You may remember Shredit posting that link about the cancer survivor from Erie, Pa. with a very promising invention to fight cancer.  Believe me, he's on to something big, Univ. of Pittsburgh Hospital wanted to buy him out, he said no.  Some of the $$$ from the strings will go to this Erie resident's research.  There are so many good vibes connected to this whole thing, with all kinds of connections, it just feels good...starting with the two special people that got the strings and all the circumstances surrounding how they met, etc.

Re: One Years After

Thanks so much for the support once again, my goal is to celebrate this news year after year. My Doctor told me when this all got going a year ago that we'd be developing a lasting relationship and I said I hope it's a long one.

Angela, tell all the stories you like dear. I have a number of lady friends who have beaten breast cancer and I've supported their effort through keep the change donations at Safeway stores where I shop as well as buying the pink & red M&M's which benefit the Susan G. Komen project. With Halloween around the corner think about using those M&M's products for the trick or treaters in your neighborhood.

Andre, cheers!!! I popped the cork on a nice cabernet to celebrate with a couple of glasses last night, so here's back at you, thanks.

Jane, I certainly won't be going as Staple Boy again this year, unfortunately they were removed by the time Halloween rolled around last time.

Dawg - good goin'.  Increase the whiskey consumption in your diet. Works for me...

Hey, I don't know how far you live from San Juan Capistrano, but I'm meeting up with Libby and her hubby (and maybe Danny) at the Coach House next Friday for the Sonny Landreth gig.  Should be awesome.

Major Tom to ground control...
