Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JaMarcus Russell?  You know you wish you had him.  I don't know why you would think there was something wrong with him when he is progressing nicely.  He's learning the NFL right now, Phil Simms knows. Once we get better in the offensive line and receiver dept. you will get an idea of what he can do.  We are rebuilding in the right direction.  I'm suprised you didn't ask about Darrin McFadden.  Don't you want to know about him?  Right now he's injured but he and Jamarcus will be on our team for a long time.  I am very excited.  When Oren O'neil comesback next year you will really see our running game in high gear.

We should have won that game against you.  We have been giving games away but as our young team keeps growing, with our young defense growing, we will be getting better and not giving games away.  So like I said, I am very excited about JaMarcus and Darrin and the rest of our young guns.

At least we have been in and won Superbowls.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know all about both of them, the problem in developing a top pick, especially a QB is the revolving door syndrome with the coaching situation in Oakland as well as what's been going on in SF. Alex Smith had a different offensive coordinator every season since he joined the Niners. You've got to admit the jury is still out on JaMarcus, in college he played in a scheme that depended on him the way they used Vince Young at Texas, depending on him for his ability to make things happen outside the pocket. The NFL is about reading defenses and making split second decisions in the pocket and a solid "O" line is critical to that success. I guess time will tell. The first round pick comment meant if the wins don't add up yours or my team will have another prime time pick, but Cincy & Detroit are neck and neck in the race for the top pick currently. If Lane Kiffin had gotten his way on draft day Brady Quinn would be a Raider as Mr. Davis pointed out at his public execution last week. If Kiffin tries to collect his contract, Art Spander, a long time sports columnist in the Bay Area said Al Davis will spend 5 million not to pay Kiffin his 3 million.

PS Before they named it the Super Bowl it was the NFL Championship which the Browns won 5 times in 1950, 54, 55, & 56, that's right three-peat, and 1964. Who knows how many they might have won if Ernie Davis hadn't died of leukemia before he played a down with Jim Brown in the same backfield. Was the Rivercats AAA crown insignificant because it wasn't the World Series??????? After all it's a professional sports league just like the NFL, right??????   Peace and good luck Raiders.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You may know that even not technically, but in playing, this is really his rookie season.  It's a learning process for him and the Raiders are trying to be careful to handle it well.  They are not trying to rush him.  The offensive coordinator did not change in Oakland like it did in San Francisco.  Alex Smith's and JaMarcus Russell's situation are different.  Also Vince Young and JaMarcus Russell are different.  JaMarcus has a strong arm which is his strength as a quarterback.  He can throw inside the pocket and he can throw outside the pocket as well depending on our "O" line protection. The more he plays and studies, the better he will get at reading defenses. I am patient with the team and am looking at them developing as a team admidst all that has happened.  Lane Kiffen gave them a foundation and hopefully they can build more on that.  That is what I am looking forward to. And yes a solid "O" line is critical and time will tell.  I just wish him the best in developing.

It's still a long season so you never know what can happen.  You can have the first pick this time if you want it, I don't think we can afford it.

Good Luck and Peace

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, now that was one major bummer. The Skins were literally a shadow of the machine of the previous games, but it was still a serious blow to the goolies to lose to a FG with one second on the clock.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHO LET MY DAWGS OUT!!!!!!!!!! and why didn't they let them out sooner???????? I watched the game with a good friend from NY and he got a bad feeling when Steve Young was the only member of the ESPN crew to pick the Browns to win. He leads the cast with a now 5-1 record.

George, I was watching the Skins with my pal Denise and we called a friend of mine who follows the Rams to see if he thought they could pull off their first win, all he had to say was ........... parity.

No doubt the bookies cleaned house this weekend.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if you got to watch the game on TV, but the Browns beat themselves with piss poor play calling and about a dozen dropped passes that would have put more than enough points on the board to win. This game was so poorly played by both sides that the game was still scoreless at half time. It's very frustrating when you know you have a QB on the bench that can get the job done, but the coach doesn't have the sense to play him. Could be worse, look at the 49ers situation.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched on the web, Dawg. I was wondering what the record for consecutive punts was after that awful first half. To be fair, the Skins were also nothing like the team of previous weeks - both teams were poor. Suisham even missed a 'short-ish' FG! Portis was the difference, which is why I feel that the win was deserved on the balance of play.

Re: Are You Ready For Some F00TBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for not rubbing my nose in it George, my friend Denise was underwhelmed by the Skins performance as well. A wins a win though and the Skins won that one. I wonder what happened to the team I watched last Mon. night??????????????????? God if they would only give Brady Quinn an oppurtunity, what the hell would it hurt?????????? Romeo Crennel is digging his own grave with his coaching decisions.

Yep, the Nolan era is over in SF. Just watched the story on the local news, but there was no mention of Bill Cowher. Reports out of Cleveland are he's been looking at homes in the Cleveland suburbs recently. If Mike Singletary wins he could land the job.

John - looking forward to the battle of Lake Erie on November 17th! It'll be televised nationally NBC Sunday Night Football.  Maybe you will have a new coach (and QB) by then.

Cheers!

I'm happy for Mike Singletary, although he's been placed in a tough spot.
Mike is a great motivator and really knows football.
During his years playing for the Bears, he was like another defensive coach on the field.
Sure hope he gets a chance to succeed and isn't judged solely on the remainder of this season.

This is a great page (and site) for free streams. The three most important programs you need to install are Sopcast, TVU and TVants - they're all small and easy but you'll need one or the other as you will see from the list.

Agreed. Mike Singletary was one of those team leaders who should get a fair shot at a head coaching position.
