Re: SRV Fans

Really?? What song?

That's ironic because, as you can tell, I'm a huge SRV fan AND I support McCain (sorry I'll try not to get this post blocked smile )

Re: SRV Fans

Interesting news Dino. Looks like they have taken the Foo Fighter's request on board which is good.

As long as the McCain campaign have permission from SRV's estate to use his song, I have no issue with it whatsoever.

Jim, your comment here is in very poor taste.

"Excusssee meeee" is a pretty childish way to write on a forum that you moderate, furthemore Scott is a name not a nationality.

Jim, we all know why you closed the other topic and not this one. You saw the other topic as an attack on McCain. It was not though a criticism of McCain or his policies, simply a news story that a Foo Fighters song had been used without their permission.  This is not the first time his campaign has done this, Heart objected, as did Jackson Browne who indeed took out an injunction to stop it.  Likewise the Obama campaign have been asked not to use the song "Soul Man".

I thought we were intelligent enough on the forum to discuss this without having to take political angles like you have done.

Do us a favour, remove all trace of these articles and we can get on with enjoying music again

Re: SRV Fans

Doesn't bother me. And I'm no McCain supporter. Stevie is the best and will always be the best.

Re: SRV Fans

Jane, you are right, I should not have spoken for the whole forum like that. I'm sorry.

I do consider my conclusion to be right though as Jim's comment were to the effect that it was the band alienating fans by making their statement and that they were doing it for their own publicity. This post mentions politics from the off but is still live. I tried to get clarification on Jim's comments but this was not forthcoming. Instead I get daft "Excusssee meeee" comments and then a wise crack at the fact Stevie Ray Vaughan is dead!

It's not on!!! I don't have to accept this from the moderator. The whole saga has put me off using the forum to be honest. sad

On the positive side today is 10th October, and on 10th November I'll be seeing Joe live. Until then I'll be watching from a distance. Thanks for your considerations Jane, apologies to you all for reading this.

Looks like McCain is starting to play the blues a month early.

Ouch!!!!

I understand how the political debate on this side of the Atlantic quickly gets heated. That is why as a rule we try to nip it before it gets started. Again with my 20/20 hindsight I should of deleted any mention of the current candidates in whatever context someone dicided to bring one of them up.

Evidently humor doesn't always translate. If I offended the Vaughan family with my comment I'm sorry. If I offended you it was unitentional.

Re: SRV Fans

For what it's worth, I thought the SRV comment was very funny.....considering the Foo Fighters thread.

This whole thang went to h*ll in a handbasket, in a hurry.  Reminded me of a few online chats I've had.....

I laughed my a$$ off Jim...don't sweat it.

I wouldn't mind if either side played a Joe Bonamassa song.......   Cathy

Let's not and say they did Sis. There's no doubt in my mind that Joe has a political conscience, but obviously he chooses not to share his views, OR DOES HE????????

Re: SRV Fans

According to Joe's facebook profile, he is very much into politics. Good idea on not sharing his thoughts, though. With politics, once you state an opinion, you tick off half the audience.
