Is anyone here familiar with these guys?  I think I've seen them mentioned here once before.  It's just 3 talented guys who can play pretty much anything on their 3 accoustic guitars, including covers and originals.  They were orginally guitar students of Robert Fripp's League of Crafty Guitarists.  I first became aware of them earlier this year when one of my fellow Machine fans posted about their cover of Pink Floyd's Echoes... it's pretty awesome.  Since then I've listened to other stuff on their band site, their MySpace site, and YouTube... songs like Tubular Bells (theme from The Exorcist), Bohemian Rhapsody, Ghost Riders On the Storm (yes, a combination of the 2 songs), and many more.  I keep running into people who say they've been fans for years and have seen them live several times and it's always a good show.

Anyway, they're playing a benefit concert at All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick MD on Tues, Oct 21st.  (This is their closest show to ME, but if you check out their tour schedule you'll see they're playing all over.)  Tickets are only $20 (no service charges) and proceeds benefit Witness Justice, a national non-profit organization that offers advocacy and support to victims of violence and trauma.

You can buy tickets online or at the door, although I'd be afraid to wait incase they sell out... not sure how big the church is.  Besides, with no service charge you might as well buy in advance.  One note though... the online order form is weird... you can't change the quantity of tickets, it just says 1... but they can tell by the dollar amount you enter how many tickets you want ($20=1, $40=2, etc).

So, is anybody here going to be at this California Guitar Trio show in Frederick MD tomorrow night???  Just wondering.

I can hardly wait to check out a live show, as I've only ever watched and heard them online so far.  They come highly recommended by everyone I know who has been to their shows.  I will be taking my son and his new girlfriend, awww... wink

FOLLOW-UP/QUICK REVIEW (incase anyone is interested)...

Well I'm glad we went... what beautiful guitarmanship! All three of us thoroughly enjoyed the show... in fact my son commented several times on the way home. They played a good balance of originals and covers... their originals were beautiful, and I got most the covers I'd been hoping for, after watching them on YouTube... all very well done. Of course Echoes was undoubtedly the main reason I even went, and trust me they did not disappoint... wonderfully executed, absolutely the high point of the show, for me and I suspect for many others.

It was about 9 months ago now that one of my fellow Machine/Floyd fans first pointed out their cool cover of Echoes... I had not been familiar with CGT before that, but since then I've run into fans all over the place, most of whom have been to multiple live shows. Now I doubt I'd drive 1 1/2 hours to see them again (even though I'm glad I did it this once), but I'd definitely make it a point to catch any local shows... they said they've played the Whitaker in Harrisburg before.
