I know this tour (and the fan base of the two bands) have been discussed in a few different threads, but I think(?) all those threads started off as being about other subjects, so I'm starting a new thread just for this show.  It's a bit early yet, but let's do rollcall.  I know some of you have already said you'll be there, but I can't remember who, so I ask that everyone please post again here.   I'd like to meet up with as many of you as I can, don't want to miss anyone.

I'm taking my son to this one... the show is 3 days after his 18th birthday, so I guess we'll consider it part of his birthday gift.  It'll be his first Gov't Mule show (but he enjoys my bootlegs), and my second.  And neither of us have seen Back Door Slam, but I'm sure we'll dig them based on the feedback here.  I don't quite have our tickets yet, but I just called the box office and found out there are still plenty left. wink

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

Yeah, I just took the plunge and bought a ticket to to the November 1st show in Geneva, NY.

This will be my first time seeing either band - I missed seeing BDS in Nashville. They cancelled the show after Davy came down with a case of food poisoning.
Blast those fast food joints!

But to see BDS and Govt Mule together will be special indeed!

Now to get my ticket for Buddy Guy in Rochester on November 24th!

Major Tom to ground control...

I know that Cathy will be there - on my birthday! I'm taking the liberty of answering on her behalf as it may be be some little time before she's back at her pc.

Kewl Bob got any other signatures on there ? I'm sure you must have Joe's ?
Everyone have a great time. I'll be seeing them in Boston on halloween night.

Since i won the guitar from alligator records in conjunction with Michael Burks release of Iron Man, the whole band signed the guitar.Since then i have had Walter Trout, Sonny Landreth, and Ana Popovic sign it. When i see Joe on 10/20 i will have him sign it.

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

Ok, for the 11/5 Baltimore show, we've got Cathy, Jane, Bob, Carl, and me on the rollcall so far, right?  Do ya'll do your pre-show meet-ups right there at Rams Head Live, or is there a better spot nearby?  I know there's plenty of time to plan, but I'm really excited about this show!  big_smile

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

It is best to eat there because you get let into the venue first. I'm planning to go early and will make reservations. Anybody want to join me? Plus, you can hear the sound checks from the restaurant..   Cathy    Thanks Jane!

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

I'll be there. I am dragging my dad along.  We are both huge Warren Haynes fans.  And I just bought Backdoor Slams CD the other day.  Great CD.  I will be there early and hopefully front row.  It is going to be a great show.  I cant wait.

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

Cathy, I'm planning on arriving down there early enough to have dinner first, and I figured that would be the place, so yes I'd love to join you!  It would be me and my son plus any friends he would end up recruiting, as he doesn't like being stuck hanging with the old folks all night, lol.  Right now there are no friends lined up, but there weren't for the Satriani/Mountain show the other night either, and he ended up bringing along a buddy at literally the last minute... this is after me trying repeatedly for several weeks to get a headcount for taveling purposes, ugh... I've found that teenage boys are simply incapable of planning ahead more than about half a day!  LOL roll

PS:  Jane, thanks for that link to enter to win tickets... I don't have mine yet, so I entered.  Last I talked to the box office, there were still plenty left, but I'm gonna keep my eye on the situation.  For Satriani/Mountain, I ended up finding deals outside the door from people who were stuck with extras. wink

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

this is going to be an awesome tour.  imo this is by far the best pairing bds has had on a tour.  very jealous of anyone getting to go, hope to maybe talk someone from around here into going to the indiana date.  please please post a review anyone who gets to see this.

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

UPDATE:   New procedure at the RHL...No more restaurant/reservations...Now, for $10 they let the 1st 100 people in at 5pm....I don't know more beyond that.     Cathy

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

If anyone is planning on going and hasn't bought a ticket yet, an unfortunate passing of a friend's brother has caused me to have an extra ticket which I would be happy to pass on for face....contact me via email at the link to the left of this post.....

Hope to see all the Maryland Joe fans there....listening to my MuleTracks from 6/05....love dat Mule.

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

As of now it's just me and my 18-year old son going tonight, unless he comes home from school and tells me he's now found a friend to take along, lol.  We should be arriving around 5:30 or so.  I can't foresee me paying an extra $10 each for us to enter early, and from what I understand from the box office lady, there's no restaurant there anymore anyway, just those food kiosks... there's just drink specials and you get to enter the show a little earlier.  I'm told there are still PLENTY of tickets left, so I can't imagine it's gonna be so crowded that I can't deal with entering along with everyone else.

FYI:  When I was there last week for Satriani/Mountain, the line at the entrance went down the hallway and out the door to the sidewalk, but there was nobody waiting at the other entrance to the left of the box office window by the coatcheck area... I figured that must be the $10 Rock Star entrance (today I was told it's not), but I walked over and asked what the difference was between the entrances anyway, and the guy said "nothing", took our tickets, and we walked right in!  Not sure if I'll get so lucky again, but I'm sure gonna try it! wink

So, does anyone know where they're eating, or know of any good places to recommend?  I'm gonna email my cell number to you all so that hopefully we won't have problems finding each other.

I'm SO looking forward to this show... WOO-HOO!  big_smile

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

It was indeed a great show. Government Mule fans were perfect for new BDS fans. Just like a Joe show, it was fun to watch their faces and hear their comments. It was my 1st Mule Show and it didn't disappoint. Warren is not just an incredible song writer and player, he's a kind and giving man. I had a young boy in front of me, has been to MANY shows already, and Warren made a point of throwing him a pick, and a smile. They brought Davey out for "Born Under a Bad Sign"...WOW....the sax player was involed too..so the licks would bounce from Warren, to sax, to Davey and then to the keyboard player. Even BDS's manager was excited!
BDS had to leave before Mule finished, so there wasn't another jam. While Mule got to climb in their GIANT tour bus and sleep to the next gig, BDS had an 8 hr drive before they could hit the bed. Then, another 10 hrs. to the next. No wonder they have "bus envy".
It was a wonderful night even though I'm not that fond of the venue...I'll take the Ram's Head in Annapolis anyday!     Cathy

How did you like the new Bass Guitarist for Gov't Mule?

Re: Gov't Mule & BDS in Baltimore 11/5

God only knows what these jams between Warren & Davy will inspire Davy to do. Y'all remember Warren collaborating with Joe dontcha? Damn I can't wait till the 21st.
