Topic: Whats Your Favorite Pickup??

Ok all you gearheads, lets hear whats your favorite pickup. Let's open this to either a individual pup or a set.

My current favorite is the setup I have in a HSS Strat I built. Bare Knuckle "Mule" humbucker with "Irish Tour's" in the neck and middle.

The stock P-90s in my '56 LP Special are so funky you walk funny after playing it ;=)

The P-90's in my 67 Sg Special They sing and sustain for a long time!  The new ones can't even come close!

I love the BurstBucker Pros, but I like to change them all over with the gibson embossed covers.  They are a pain to find though.  I hope more pop up on ebay soon.

Re: Whats Your Favorite Pickup??

I like my Texas Specials. I get a good hot overdrive sound that sounds great at high volume.

Don't know if I can say favorite, but I'm very fond of P 90's, Gold lace sensor's for strats (yeah, I know alotta people hate'm!),  and Duncan 59's are great.

If heartaches were nickels, I'd have 35 cents!

Re: Whats Your Favorite Pickup??

I'd say the Burstbuck pros I have in my Les Paul. I also have Semour D. JB model in an older LP custom that is very good as well.

Re: Whats Your Favorite Pickup??

I'm dying to put a set of Duncan Five-Twos's in my Strat.  After that I'm pretty much stock in my '92 PRS and '83 335.

Re: Whats Your Favorite Pickup??

I have zebra like seymour duncans in my PRS, they sound good, and the best i have, but i havent found my fave tone yet. Definately Joes tone, i just need one of my own, i like Seymour duncans, but only their humbuckers

My favorite?  Dave over at Tex-Tone Pickups.  And no, it's not just because he's a friend of mine...he winds a great pickup.

Of course, he isn't a gearhead household name so naturally, he won't get any immediate credibility but put one in your guitar and you'll thank me...

Thanks for turning us on to Tex Tone pickups.  I never heard of them before.  I checked out the sight.  Very cool.
I'm looking for a classic strat sound but without the razor highs.  The five-two's sound perfect on paper.  Currently I have a Duncan Little '59 in the bridge.  At the time (12 years ago) it was what I was looking for...not now.  Since I changed rigs I want a more classic tone.
