Re: RIP Richard Wright Pink Floyd

Sad news , Planet Rock are playing a tribute evening as I write this.

I suppose this happens to every generation that reaches 'a certain age',the musicians that have been part of your lives, thin out every month or two.But we've got Joe.

For me , this is why it is so important that a young hot-dog like Joe is carrying the torch for Blues-Rock.I want the music that I love to continue.

And it is folks,my son is 21 , went to the Joe concert at Frome U.K. last time round and loves him.

From my perspective , Joe is living every day like it was his last , with the constant touring and I really like that. The work ethic - the total commitment to the fans, unbeatable.

No Ordinary Joe

Re: RIP Richard Wright Pink Floyd

RIP Richard. Wright was an intregal part of Pink Floyd's sound, and I can't imagine 'Dark Side Of The Moon' without him. By the way, just got back from seeing Molly Hatchet, tonight(great show) where theydedicated an excellent version of "Free Bird" to "Duane Allman and Richard Wright". Very cool.

Ditto. Just terribly sad, a brilliant artist powering a wonderfully unique band.  Its disturbing how so many people are battling cancer. sad RIP  Richard.

Re: RIP Richard Wright Pink Floyd

Sad news, I was hoping to see him and David Gilmour's band, or even a reunion Pink Floyd sometime as I really became a fan of them as well.

Re: RIP Richard Wright Pink Floyd

I think Rick Wright was like the George Harrison of Pink Floyd, quiet and classy but a dynamite musician stuck in between two big ego clashing bandmates, not given much writing opportunity and still, Us and Them by Wright like Here Comes The Sun or Something by George are amongst the best songs of their respective groups and amongst the best songs of all time.....!!!

hehe, Lennon/McCartney, Waters/Gilmour....

Re: RIP Richard Wright Pink Floyd

Mike,
I think you are spot on about the George analogy.  I'm wondering is anyone else is fond of Pink Floyd's "Obscured By Clouds"?  I have come across a few diehard Floyd fans that don't have it in their collection.  It was written for a movie soundtrack. Stay is a great song composed by Wright.
