Some chops INDEED!!!  Chops all around for the boys of BACK DOOR SLAM!!! 

You are correct, Adam Jones turned 21 this summer, shortly after Davy Knowles did........ and Ross Doyle just turned 22. 

We, in the U.S., are VERY lucky that this hard working band continues to perform in so many towns, and that SOME of those performances are still taking place in tiny clubs.  If you haven't seen them yet, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you GET OUT TO SEE THEM while the gettin' is GOOD!!!  Remember, next month they'll be out on tour with Gov't Mule - big band, big venues, big audiences, BIG opportunities.

Jeff is right - BDS has been very well represented here - just type Back Door Slam into the search feature and you will find a PLETHORA of POSTS!!!  And now, in a matter of just two weeks, they will be opening for Joe at the House of Blues in Dallas.  How awesome THAT will be!!!!  LEGENDARY!!! 

I think we are only seeing a glimmer of what the future holds for these three incredibly gifted young men.  It's also my opinion that, as IMMENSE as their TALENT is, it may be eclipsed by one thing, and that is their EXCEPTIONAL CHARACTER.  I don't have the time or energy to waste on artists with no talent, nor do I choose to spend that energy on talented artists with huge egos.  Give me an artist or a band with the gifts of TALENT and HUMILITY and GRATITUDE and I will give them my ALL as a fan, and do whatever I can do to promote them with FIERCE loyalty.

P.S.  In the meantime - all of y'all who HAVEN'T seen all the BDS threads in the past will just have to do your own search instead of trying our links.  Okay??  Okay.  It's simple...... just go to the top of the page here and ...... click on 'Search'....... then type Back Door Slam into the "Keyword Search" box and hit the "submit" button.  The five pages I referred to will unfurl before you (HOPEFULLY!!!  LOL!!!). 

As I've said before, Davy will be or is the next Eric Clapton. Adam Jones is a fabulous bass player in his own right and Ross Doyle, who's the bands drummer and elder statesman at 22 years of age, ties it all together very nicely with his drum work. It doesn't get much better than that, except for Joe, Bogie, Carmine and Rick.

I do agree, but I know Davy has been writing. Honestly, how do men like this find time to write songs? When I saw the guys in Chicago, they had just gotten into town from a previous gig. Davy, Adam and Ross all helped to unload the gear for set up at Buddy Guy's Legends. After the set up came the sound test. Then of course, they hung around to visit with fans before the show and catch a bite to eat at the venue. Finally, after a short opening act, the lads hit the stage and put on one of the most inspirational shows Dawn and I had ever seen.

Afterwards, came the tear down and more visiting with fans. Actually, another band was going to take the stage at about midnight. Turns out Davy, Adam and Ross hung around and I believe Davy got up and played with the following band. I know how tired we were traveling from home to Chicago and then getting to the venue by 3:30 PM, because fans were already showing up for the 8:00 PM show. We left just before midnight. Like I said, how then does a fellow of Davy's incredible talent, find time to sit down and write such terrific and beautiful songs? That alone just boggles my mind....

... and even non-blues people love the CD. I bought "Roll away" for a friend´s birthday who listens to rockish stuff most of the time and he LOVES the album. These guys just make me hide my head in shame - they´re even younger than me and such fabulous musicians already.

They have a bright future ahead of them as we have all agreed quite often now
