Topic: This forum's own Danny G and the Houserockers...

OK, so it's Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers, but Joey G ain't a member of this forum, and Danny G is.....so I took a little poetic licence to up the interest.....

They played last night at the Carnegie Blues and Heritage Festival.....a great festival in Carnegie (just west of Pittsburgh...) where Main St. is shut down for 3 days and thousands of people jam the street to party.  I asked a cop last night if they had a crowd count for last night, and he estimated 4-5 thousand.  Said there was more the night before.  Not bad for a street festival.....

Here's a couple clips of the band, and Danny has a bit of a cameo at 1:50 in on the first one.  You'll be able to pick him out in the second.....

Very nice job last night, buddy.....you guys kicked @ss!!!!!

Joe Grushecky has been a Pittsburgh icon forever, and if you detect a hint of Bruce Springsteen in his music, that's not by accident.  Joe and Bruce became close friends back in the early 80's, I believe, when Joe asked Bruce for help with the local food bank benefit.  They've written songs together, performed together, and quite possibly go on family vacations together!  This ain't yer typical bar band folks.....they're pretty special.  And Danny G is a well deserved part of it all.  If I'm not mistaken, when I asked Danny if he wanted to go see JB in Youngstown a couple of weeks ago, he had to decline since he and the band would be in Asbury Park performing with Bruce.  I thought that was a pretty good excuse.....

That's a world-class band, and Joe Grushecky has a world-class lead guitar player.....square biz, man.....you rock.....

btw, I ran into Don, and Pittsburgh Jeff with his wife Diane.....always great to see you guys at the gigs, and it's gettin' so I expect to see you.  What I DIDN'T expect, though, was to see Melissa and Nico!!  That just made my night!  Melissa had driven down with Nico to see Jill West (who once again had him on stage with her, something that I must have missed by minutes...)  I just think that is so cool.....not only that Jill has taken a shine to Nico, but, from what Melissa has said, Nico simply adores Jill.....

And, I also think it's seriously cool how so many different people, from the same hometowns to half way around the world, have become close friends through JB, his forum, and his music.  It really is pretty incredible when you think about it.....and SERIOUSLY cool.  Thanks Joe.....

And thanks again, Danny.....hell of a show, buddy.....

I didn't know THAT!!!!  Congratulations Danny!!!  GREAT JOB!!!  How fun to see you!!!

Hmmmmm....... NICO simply ADORES her????  Well, I must say, I was prepared to break up with "my boyfriend" over this little escapade - that is, until I watched and LISTENED to Ms. West and was SO IMPRESSED (WHAT a GREAT VOICE), that I can't say I blame the little guy.  Who could resist THAT????

And, I also think it's seriously cool how so many different people, from the same hometowns to half way around the world, have become close friends through JB, his forum, and his music.  It really is pretty incredible when you think about it.....and SERIOUSLY cool.  Thanks to Joe.....

Indeed Jim - very incredible and most seriously cool.  I marvel EVERY day at how much closer I grow to someone I'm already close to, or, at how I find someone new coming into my life......and some days...... it's BOTH..........all because of this place...... thanks friends, one and all, and thanks, of course, to JOE.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Here ya go Jim and Libby.  When Jill calls Nico up on the bandstand as she likes to refer to, he shines. They have taken an original song and added Nico's cool little dance moves whenever they play. With or without Nico. I asked Jill to please play " Nico's Jam" Here's Nico joing Jill on the bandstand last month down at Crafton park.  The kids got mad skillz.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: This forum's own Danny G and the Houserockers...

Thanks buddy.....I remember you posting that clip, but couldn't remember where it was.  I must have just missed Nico on stage Saturday night, because Jill was playing when I got there, and played for at least a half hour more.  How cool is it that Mellisa packs up the car and drives in from Youngstown because Nico wants to see Jill West??

And Libby, like I told ya.....no reason why you can't be Nico's West Coast babe, and Jill his East Coast babe.  But you best not start no trouble.....Jill West is a BIG woman.....and yer, well.....a Lil Bit.....

Re: This forum's own Danny G and the Houserockers...

SRV...thanks for the props on the show.  It was great meeting you finally although..man, you look familar.   I did get in touch with Daryl.  The best bet would be to coordinate a trip to the west coast with a Vegas date.  We could hit Vegas for four night and jaunt out to the coast for a few shows before flying home.
Thanks again....as you know, Pittsburgh has some amazing talent.  Tony Janflone, Glenn Pavone, Jill west, Shari Richards, Wil E. Tri (best blues harp player in the biz!)  All great performers.  Then you have the icons like Joe Grushecky, Donnie Iris, B.E. Taylor...it's arockin' city.

Peace!!
