Re: Only 49 days left to clean the house

Walter Trout was a gas! Music with a smile. I really enjoyed him. Cathy ran into the bass player after the show and flashed her Moondog t-shirt for the introduction - that worked well! big_smile

We had waved goodbye to Andre and Rudi on the motorway going to the WT show, now Cathy and I waved goodbye to Eva and Geko after the show as we turned left towards Amsterdam while they turned right back to Germany.

We had a marvelous time together, our sincere thanks to Geko for his kind and generous hospitality and for the mountains of food provided mainly by Geko's mother!

Re: Only 49 days left to clean the house

Jim..I KNEW you would know it was me!! But, Hefner has done it for years!! And, they are my dress-up jammies!! Rick also had on his Moondog's tee shirt..

Geko..Miss you too!! Keep posting, you're doing well!!!

My relatives came into Amsterdam yesterday and we all got to take a boat tour of the town. Despite the ever present rain, it was beautiful. We also spent some time roaming the town, (Even got a pic of my sister-in-law's 70 something mom with a "cigarette" in her hands..SO funny). We finished the day with a big meal at George's favorite Asian restaurant. They left by train for Belgium this a.m.. George and I will go this week-end to watch my nephew's last ballgame.

A few hints for traveling..DON'T expect ice!! It's a rare commodity. I may start an ice business here!! However, if you like beer..it's EVERYWHERE!! The whole bike/trolley/car thing is still a source of anxiety for me. Locals have an innate ability to choreograph right-of-ways (even while stoned!!)...but to outsiders it's chaos!! Finally, it's very sad to exchange dollars for Euroes..ouch!! Maybe when I change again into dollars I think I'm getting a good deal!

Again, I wish all the Bonabuddys were here..I'll hope for a gathering next year!!    Cathy

Re: Only 49 days left to clean the house

What a weekend!

I came home yesterday night at 1:30 am, because my train was delayed as usual (every one of the 6 trains I took was delayed! lol) and I think I´ll have to spend another week to listen to all the music that I brought back (thanks Cathy!) and to dwell on all these lovely memories ...

We had such a great, great time and I already miss my Bonabuddies - it was such a short time that we had together and yet so many wonderful moments full of laughter, joy and music. As I already mentioned in the previous post I had a cold and my voice sounded like Kermit the frog all the time - so I shouldn´t have talked at all ... but how can you stay quiet when there are so many lovely people around you?! wink

I wouldn´t be finished with writing until tomorrow if I told all the stories of this weekend, so I´ll try to keep it short - and I also uploaded a few more pictures, so they can speak for theirselves ... wink
I arrived on Wednesday night and stayed at my friend´s place first - we spent a nice and sunshiny day in Düsseldorf on Thursday and sat at the Rhine for quite some time watching the beautiful sunset (Rhine).
On Friday I met up with Geko and we drove to Venlo together to buy all these tons of food for our BBQ ... Geko´s poor old car was completely overloaded with all this FOOD ... When everyone had finally arrived, we had to leave for the Devon Allman show pretty quickly, because we were already a bit late - but still Andre had the time to prepare a little bed for everyone.
Devon Allman was absolutely great - we were all a little bit "distracted" during the concert, because we had so much to talk about, but nevertheless the concert was cool. They played pretty much "classic" bluesrock, but then added a little reggae-twist to it when playing a great version of "No woman, no cry" - he even did "daddy´s song" (one way out...)! I think I´ll go and see the guys again when they´re coming to my area soon - they are really worth it. Here are some of the pictures I took at the show. It was also great to chat with the Band and Harrie Braun afterwards.

Saturday was of course the big "BBQ and music" day - we had such a laugh because the charcoal just wouldn´t burn for HOURS! Geko joked afterwards that everything around the charcoal was burning, but NOT the coal itself lol - well, the guys look pretty professional on the pictures anyway, don´t they?! http://www.flickr.com/photos/25162871@N … 320638189/
Of course Andre took the chance to pick on Geko all the time, because the food wasn´t ready soon enough - but I never saw him even getting near the grill lol - just kidding Andre, that was my little revenge for you calling me "strange" wink.
Well, finally the food was ready and we had a nice BBQ accompanied by some great music (old Feat-Vinyl!) - here are a few more pictures if you should be interested in looking at people eating. wink
The time for the "good-bye-picture" came way too soon - but at least Cathy, George, Geko and me still had the Bluesrock Festival to look forward to. Walter Trout was just as great as Devon Allman - as George already said: it was really a "show with a smile", because Walter was in such a good "playing-mood" and you could see that he really enjoyed the show and the reactions of the audience. The highlight was of course Walter and his Band jamming with Eamonn McCormack who had played before Walter´s set (more pictures...) - it was the perfect ending for our music weekend!
On Sunday I went to Cologne with my friend Ina and we even climbed up all the stairs of the Dome ...

I´m pretty tired now, but it was all so worth it again - meeting Bonabuddies really has a special kind of magic ... as Cathy said: you always feel like you´ve known them forever. You are all so special to me ...
Geko - we had such a laugh together buying all this food and driving in your dangerously old car (oh my god, imagine if we really knocked down this bycycle guy in Holland!!) - you are just such a funny guy!
George and Cathy - I love you two! You are the coolest, funniest and the most warm-hearted forum elders one could ask for! Hope to meet you again very soon!!
Rudi - it was so nice to finally meet you and I hope that we meet again very soon (December?!)
and last but not least Andre - you are really a special Bonabuddy, even though you insulted me the whole weekend!! lol But I know that this is just your funny nature - and of course you are the best in everything, you old smartass! wink

Tired and happy,   Eva

Re: Only 49 days left to clean the house

How VERY odd Eva -

When I look at your post, even though you refer to many sets of photos - I can only SEE one set...... literally, I can only SEE the words for the set of photos from the bbq.

This is where it gets REALLY odd........ I "quoted" you, so that I could explain what I was seeing to you here, on the Forum....... so, when looking at it on the "Post a Reply" page, in the message box, which then included your ENTIRE quote, and EACH and EVERY link appeared....... however, when I hit "Preview" to see how it would look, they ALL disappeared again, except for the link to the BBQ photos......

Is anyone else having this same trouble???

This is what I see on the thread - just the SINGLE link to one set of photos:

Strange thing with the photo-links ... when I view my post I can see the underlined words as links to the photos - strange world of internet! lol

So, to make it easier:
Here are the photos I took of our Forum-meeting: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25162871@N … 320638189/

And here are the ones from the two concerts: http://www.flickr.com/photos/25162871@N … 328389797/

Hope it works like this!

And Andre - that sounds exactly like YOU, you work-avoider!! Waiting until I would post the story so you don´t have to do it ... tststs lol
