Topic: Angel On His Shoulder/Weather

I listen to the Weather Channel during hurricane season, especially more when my special interests are heightened.  (tons of family in Florida, etc. & I live in the northeast 1/8th mile from the Atlantic Ocean)  This morning after I heard an update, I didn't turn off the TV and just caught part of a story called "Angel on His Shoulder", which of course made me think of Joe and his song Asking Around for You.  There was some videotape about the story in an against all odds situation of a baby in the back seat that escaped injury when the driver's car was involved in an accident that impacted where the baby was.  Apparently this baby also escaped death about a month ago in another situation.  I didn't catch the whole story.

I tried to google the weather channel and couldn't find the story, but came across other references of situations where people had an angel on their shoulder.  In my philosophical mindset at the moment, I just have to reiterate what a powerful song "Asking Around For You" is and how on occasion fans have even renamed it, calling it Angel On Your Shoulder or Tapping an Angel.  Since I personally have SO MANY Joe favorites, I think I'd have to categorize this song in a sub-category and say that Asking Around For You is my favorite atypical Joe Bonamassa song! IMHO

Thoughts and prayers out to everyone in the path of any of the upcoming hurricanes and tropical storms...stay safe and dry and I hope you have An Angel On Your Shoulder!!! smile

Re: Angel On His Shoulder/Weather

Hello Angela -

That story about the baby happened in New Hampshire this summer.  There was a (freak-for this part of the country) tornado that destroyed the house that this baby and his grandparents were in - the baby and the grandfather survived - the grandmother (who was holding the baby) did not.  Now, this week, the same baby who was in that house was in a van that ran into a store.  Everybody was ok.  There were stories on our local stations about this.  Try WHDH channel 7 or WMUR channel 9.  You can probably find something there.  That kid sure does have an angel on it's shoulder!

We are not close enough to the ocean to have to worry too much about hurricanes (at least the water part) but I have been paying attention this week since we will be leaving for Assateague Island in Maryland next Saturday.  A few years ago we were there and had to leave early because of Hurricane Isabelle sad -really do not want a repeat of that, but we'll just have to wait and see.  Mother Nature has a mind of her own.

Hope everyone in the Carolinas and Florida are/will be ok.

Sandy

Amazing story...that baby definitely has an angel...wow.

TS Hanna hasn't been too horrible here, lots of rain but that's about it.

Hope everyone is staying safe.

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for filling in the blanks!  WOW!  A beautiful baby whose life has already been such a wild ride.  We had a tornado warning last night, also not common at all for my area.  Can't mess with mother nature, she's got a mind of her own.  Still, Ike's lookin' nasty, he needs to blow away...

Re: Angel On His Shoulder/Weather

I'm watching the news tonight as Hurricane Ike approaches Texas.  Boy, this one looks really, really bad.  I hope our friends in Texas are staying safe.  This storm looks like it may be the worst one we've had this year. It's almost a category 3 storm as it approaches land.   This is terrible news. sad

It was a wicked bad storm, but the weather folks were saying it could have been much worse. I remember reading that Galveston, TX was one of the top 5 vulnerable areas for a hurricane.  Water was coming over the seawall and the hurricane was still 200 miles away! I hope all the JB fans in these storm areas are OK.
