Topic: Vintage 30 + Electrovoice Classic in a 412...

Hi again guys!
Joe uses Classic electrovoice speakers, I love his tone!, anybody knows how is the combination in a 412 with 2 vintage 30?... I´m goin to wired the cab to use with two amp heads  ( vintage 30 and electrovoice in each one). I think that is a great combination, anybody try this?

Javiero your English is fine. Please let us know how your 4X12 cab turns out.

I would love to hear from the forum on what would be a good match of different speakers in a 4X12 cabinet.

Ok, when i replace the speakers i´m gonna record my les paul trough a plexi with the cab with V30 and Electrovoice.

I tried a V30 and a EVM12L Classic in a Vox Cab (open back). My opinion: not worth it. Both speaker are totally different. If you mix them, you overlay the advantages of one speaker with the disadvantages of the other. In other words: The EV has a tighter bass as the V30. And the V30 sounds more mid honky. So you will not have the overall tight bass because you also hear the "muddy" V30 and the mids of the V30 will overtone the subtle mids of the EV.

I think the EVM12 is very special and you have to like it or not. I also tried it with two Hughes&Kettner 1x12 closed back. One EV and one V30. Same results. Mixing is not doing it.

I think separate 2x12s are the way to go a 4x12 with
EVM12LS would weigh a ton  as the speakers are heavy
I have a closed back 2x12 with evm12L and emminence
patriot redcoat which is their take on V30  and superior
IMO. I also have an openback 2x12 with V30 and g12h30

both cabs sound completely different but together create
a wall of sound . if I had to pick only one cab it would be
closeback with EVM12L AND EMMINENCE very clear and articulate
sounding cab in fact this cab with 2 evm12LS would be better
but like I said even this would weigh a lot and I dont have a roadie;)

the open back cab with V30 G12H30 is also good sounding but both
speakers compliment , not as articulate as other cab but seems to have
more bass /bottom end probably due to openback cab

I use this with marshall jubilee 2553 , I suppose different amps
would also yield different results so trial and error
