RIP Stevie.
I remember that day like 911, it's all so clear and sad...the loudest gig I ever went to was seeing him in the S.F. bayarea....I thought I was permanently deaf....I try to never get that close anymore...I said try.....
Dave
SRV....the guy who's music changed me from a kid strumming a guitar as hobby to a blues player dedicated to playing music for life. RIP SRV.
RIP SRV
18 years!!! OMG!! I'm another who worshiped this man. We all felt such pride that he had straightened his life out and was so together. I'm lucky to have seen him 3 times. I know players like Joe hate being compared to him because they feel pigeon-holed, and that's a shame. I don't think it should ever be a bad thing to sound like SRV. (By the way, Joe never sounded like him to me). RIP and I hope all the greats are having a jam on Planet Blues/Rock! Cathy
You Stevie have be sooooooooooooo missed R.I.P
Peace

Like Shred said, that's a day that I remember like 9/11.....or the day John Kennedy was shot. I remember where I was, what I was doing, what the weather was like.....and that I cried.....
And the only way I could get passed him dying so soon after he got his life back together was that I figured God wanted to clean him up before he brought him home.....
Rest in Peace, Stevie Ray Vaughan.....
It is amazing all the talk even after 18 years, he sure did have an impact on people!

Ain't that the truth.....
btw, Susie (I cheated, I looked at yer profile).....are you the "Susie" that wrote that piece and sketched the artwork on that link in your signature? If so, you are very talented.....that was impressive.....
Welcome to Joe's World.....I gots the feeling you're gonna enjoy yourself. And make sure you catch JB live.....I'd tell ya what it's like, but words don't do it justice.....
Gotta love him. By the way, this year is his first year to be up on the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame.
Here is to celebrating his life, cursing his death, and weeping for the music left unplayed.
1990?
I can believe it. I was ten years old. Joe was 12 or 13. I do remember when it happened though. It made pretty big news because I grew up in Wisconsin, and that's where it happened.
SO much stuff has happenned since SRV passed. the computer age, war on terror, gas prices.
It's a completely different world.
I remember sitting in my lazy boy at home when I heard the news... I was stunned. Ashamed to say that I haven't listened to Stevie in awhile... think I will have to listen to his cd's over the next few days. RIP SRV.
Wow, that long ago...day-um. RIP Stevie.
