Topic: Giants vs. A's Race

Obviously neither of our Bay Area teams are going to see action in the post season this year. The beauty of baseball is there's always the game within the game. Living in a two team market I have friends who are either Giants or A's fans, not quite as voracious as say Chicago, but one side of the fence or the other. Before the season starts there's usually some chest pounding and of course wagering on who's team will do better. Well we're wrapping up Aug. with both teams neck and neck, The Giants at 58W, but losing going into the 9th and the A's @ 59W having just beat Anaheim. I am affectionately dubbing this the dog race, may the best dog win.

I love watching both teams...but for the money, I'll take AAA baseball in Sactown...you can take your family out to the game and leave with a few extra dollars in your pocket....the best part is when you catch a game thats not sold out, you can go right down to the first row near the dugouts and here all the bad language when the managers yell at the umpires....lol...I booed my buddy after he argued a call with the first base ump, I think he got pissed cuz he shined me on the next time I went and saw him  smile ...sorry I'm a homer, he should have known better

Re: Giants vs. A's Race

C'mon Bluezman stay focused, the tribe has nothing to do with the Bay Area or two team markets. You left Cliff's a little too soon last night, you coulda met Jasmine Dunlop, Jim's daughter, she came in to eat with a couple of friends of ours. Her and Jimi run the family biz for their Dad nowadays. I gotta see Jimi later this morning he's got a bag of Jazz III's with somebodies name on them for me to deliver on Mon.  See you & Shredster @ the Nugget.

I love the minor league scene up there too. It's the only place in NorCal where you can watch a night game in just a t-shirt. I forgot to mention there's many Bay Area people that do follow both teams, that's a rare occurence in the eastern two team cities. Please don't ever let me catch you wearin' one of those half A's half Giant's caps. The dorks that wear those are high up on the fashion police hit list.

C'mon Shreddy put it on and snap a photo for all the forum to see, make sure you're wearin' a button down shirt with a pocket protector full of pencils too. Yeah the "cargo", remember the last time when your boys couldn't deliver and it came back to me in the mail? Damn good thing the Grapevine was shut down and I didn't make it to San Juan.

Re: Giants vs. A's Race

Now you got me all worried. What could possibly go wrong between here and Reno and 3 days with Bob at his place out in Graegle??????????????? Maybe get drilled by a golf ball while we're playin', flip my kayak in Sardine Lake, or have his 2 year old give me so many noogies I can't find my way to Reno????????? As Hank Sr. used to say "If the good Lord's willin' and the creeks don't rise."

Not to stray too far off topic, but Senator Obama created quite the stir in Chicago when he said that Cub fans aren't real fans, they come to the park, have a beer and "...aren't watching the game" and "White Sox, that's baseball...South side".
Not sure how heated Giants vs A's gets, but we got a presidential hopeful jumping into the Cubs/Sox fray and dissing Cubs fans everywhere. This seems irrelevant to the presidential race, but I'll bet money he lost some votes from Cub fans with that comment.
To get back on topic, I see the Giants are trailing the A's by 2 games in the "dog race", as of this morning. Game within the game, indeed. There is always something to cheer for. Until recently Chicago baseball fans have been experts in finding the "silver lining".
