Great show! And the Guess Who got to eat all the flying bugs and cleared em' off the stage before Joe and Co. came out! It was pretty funny! They had to keep moving around on stage to avoid eating a few! he he he

Suhl, when are we ever going to meet you? lol

Had a blast with Patty, Bev, Angela, Bill S. (and buddies), Lee and Renee. And of course cannot forget hanging out for the weekend with my son, Robby - Bogies biggest fan! smile

Pics are up! http://www.flickr.com/photos/photogal19 … 939209927/

.....Patty - there are a few "hair" pics for you.

It's good seeing Joe "letting his hair down" again! I think it is sort of a signature trademark for him.....what do you think Patty? smile

~Rhonda

For those interested, I will get the Guess Who photos posted in the "Other Artists" section in the next few days.

Thank you Rhonda smile smile smile smile and I agree wholeheartedly that Joe's hair like it was Saturday night IS a signature trademark wink  Ok, I know....enough about the hair......... wink

Re: davenport

Ditto on all the great reviews. What a fantastic show!
Joe probably made a bunch of new fans, but there are two in particular that I can attest to: I started chatting with two women seated behind me before the Guess Who came on.
Asked if they were there to see anyone in particular and they said the Guess Who. Naturally, I asked if they were planning on sticking around to see Joe. The response was, we're not sure, we've never heard of him.
So I gushed a bit about the talents of Joe and the boys and ultimately convinced them they NEEDED to stick around.
Half way through So Many Roads, I turn around and see the usual "deer in the headlights" look on both of them. The one is jumping up and down like a 10 year old (like so many of us the first time we saw Joe).
Her comment to me between songs: I know you said he was good, but I had no idea he was THIS good. After the show, they were both on cloud 9, totally and entirely bonabaptized. That was really fun to see.
I fully expect they will be new members here sometime soon.

as for meeting you all, it will happen, ill be going to his shows every chance i get as long as im alive.  i actually looked for you all.  couldnt find you though.  we got up pretty close too id say fourth row which was pretty good since we missed most of the guess who's set(which what i saw of was mediocre at best and i don't hold them to the joe standard, i hold them to the classic rock past their prime standard and even for that i thought it was disappointing and boring, what i saw anyway).  it was the closest i'd been to joe anyway.  i think i saw patty last year at davenport but was too shy to say anything thought she might not know me.  but anyway this year i was going to say something if i saw anybody, but through the crowd i couldnt. we will meet sooner or later.  next chicago or stl or quad cities show likely maybe indianpolis.  luckily for me he comes through the midwest a lot so there are plenty of opportunities to see him.

oh an i hope none of you were the jerk that tried to pick a fight with my brother and i, but i think people here have more class than to say things like "shut up i don't listen to women...etc" to my brother's wife.  the guy was there by himself, couldnt provoke us and was gone after probably 2 songs.  glad to see he wasn't a fan of joe's no need to have assholes trying to ruin a good time.

Where 4th row were you. That's about where I ended up near the end. I was on the side Carmine stands on. Near the edge of the crowd but not on the edge.

Just SO pleased for you in particular, Patty! The boys had to be extra special on the night because you were there!

Great write-ups, great pics....great stories of people getting Bonabaptized.....I still remember my own jaw-dropping very clearly only 13 months ago...I've still got to wait till November for my next fix.

Were there new LFNIP t-shirts?

Yes, there are new LFNIP shirts.  They are long-sleeved and what I would describe as a very soft "light-weight long underwear" like material.  I never think fast enough.  We should have taken a picture of Joe in it as it "fit him to a T."  It has the CD cover on it and Joe's name on the sleeve, I am at work so I can't describe exactly at this moment....my tail is dragging....didn't get enough rest yet.......but still very, very happy & content.  smile

Will let you know.  At one point the cameraman was rocking back and forth while he was taping Joe.  We all got a big kick out of that.

Just checked IPTV, show will air on September 15th @ 9:00pm.

Not that I doubt you Patty, but just to clarify, have you heard independently that Joe will be the featured performer of the River Roots Live episode that airs on September 15th at 9 pm?  I went to the IPTV site, and while it is confusing, there is no mention of who will appear on that episode.  My confusion stems from the fact that there are different episodes of River Roots Live listed and that have aired recently, and it doesn't mention anything about Davenport or Joe or even 2008.  And to be more confusing, they list other differently-numbered episodes as having aired recently, but don't identify who has appeared on them or from what dates or locations.  Hopefully someone can shed some light on this (confirm or not) before the show date so I can confidently inform some people who roll their eyes when I mention that I'm going to another Joe show that he will be on IPTV.  If so, it should make them take my Joe boosting a little more seriously, and kick their butt if they see Joe perform on IPTV.

And to clarify my attempted clarification, I don't doubt you Patty as I was also there and saw the IPTV shirt-wearing cameraman, it's just that I don't want to lose credibility with the unconverted by telling them to watch this show (and specific episode) for Joe if it isn't confirmed that he will be on it.

Oh, by the way, the show was as awesome as described by Suhl and Patty above, so I'll just say ditto!  I didn't fight my way through the crowd to get to the front and was shoulder to shoulder standing with others about 50 or so feet back.  It was a very lively crowd!  I'm glad that Iowa is starting to get it now.

Re: davenport

Dear Patty -

Glad you had such a wonderful time.  Please tape the show when it comes out - I would love to see it.

Rhonda - NICE pictures!  Do you give private lessons?  Only half joking.

Glad everyone had a nice time - loved the deer-in-the-headlights story!  I saw a lot of that last year when we saw Joe open for Willie Nelson in Providence [and that was just Joe by himself doing acoustic] - it's fun to watch.

We specifically asked the camera guy about Joe and he said the 3rd week in September, which would coincide with Sept. 15th.  I wrote them an email yesterday questioning it, but have not heard back from them yet.  I can't imagine that he shot all that footage of Joe and they are not going to use it.  Maybe if we both keep on top of it we can find out.  I can't imagine that he wasn't telling us the truth.  No offense taken at all, I do get real excited about it all, but I heard it straight from "the horse's mouth" so I am placing my faith & confidence in this all going down.  If I haven't heard back from them in a couple of days, I will contact them by phone.  And when are we ever going to get to meet you?  We don't bite, promise smile       lol......   Patty

Re: davenport

Hi Folks.  I am compelled to join and post after "being around" for several years.  I discovered Joe around 2ooo or so after hearing some cuts from "a new day yesterday" on a local radio blues show.  Being a fellow power-blues guitarist/singer/song writer, I thought, "Here's a guy doing exactly what I'm aiming to acheive!"  I was actually in Fort Wayne at Pierres' during the taping of the DVD that came with 'So, it's like that"  I was in town for my Uncle Bob's 80th birthday party, and imagine my feeling of good fortune and timing!  I actually owned this disc for several months before realizing(after reading it here!) there was a DVD included!  Duh...  Story of my life, really.  Ha ha.  Anyway, I've travelled far and wide and have seen Joe live 5 times, now.  My last live show was last September at the Redstone Room in Davenport.  That show was amazimg, but this recent Davenport show was the most religious musical experience I have ever witnessed. Joe is looking great, they all are.  Carmine has a commanding presence not unlike a movie star.  And to see them break into smiles when they make eye contact shows they hold a high regard for each other that I hope lasts many tours. I was on Joes' side near the front, under the Jumbotron screen.  I haven't heard crowd size estimates, but it could have been as high as 10,000 to 15,000 by my guess.
I saw Joe and Bogie peaking out at the audience and they giggled like kids!  Something, whether it was the crowd size, the perfect weather(which has been a rarity in these parts this summer) or my recurring good luck, lit Joe up, cuz he was on FIRE!  I tried to see if I could recognize some of you from your pics over the years, But I was mesmerized by the show.  I had about  8 people with me who were mind boggled to look out for.  They didn't know what to expect, he he.  I had told them, but who listens, right?  Ya just hafta see it, no way to explain it!  I hope this show is aired, becuz it was special.  The sound and lights were world class.  Ellis Kell, Santos and all from River Roots Musical Experience did more for the Health of Blues Music that night then can be measured. I am sure Joe's Catalog will blow uo with several units being sold!
It took a coupla days for my account to be opened here, but I'll be around more, now.  If anyone is around Clinton, Iowa September 15th, we are doing a Flood aid show for the folks who are still trying to rebuild their lives form this seasons' flooding.  ENUFF Z'NUFF, Firehouse, The Bones, Slough Buoys and more will be on tap, all volunteered and all profits are going to the flood victims.  See www.floodaid2008.com for details.  I won't be playin, but The Bones is my brothers' cover band.  He is a drummer and we will be recording a cd soon.  We have a myspace page but not much is on there yet.  It's MickeyFinn and the Shagnasties/myspace.com   Forgive me if I've missed any typos, but I have macular degeneration and my sight is going fast.  I've tried to fix 'em all, but some may get by.  Peace all!  mf

Re: davenport

Welcome Charmer...and MickeyFinn..What a GREAT intro! I love a good story. How wonderful that you've witnessed Joe's maturing process. And you're right, this train is about to go supersonic! Fasten your seatbelt and post away, please.      Cathy

Great news on what the cameraman told you.  And hopefully the IPTV people will respond with more info to your email.

As far as meeting the gang, like Suhl said, it will happen.  I just tend to be more of a hang back and observe guy than a front row guy.  And I think I might have briefly crossed paths with you (?) at the first Surf show Joe was at where he headlined for Tesla?  It was after his set at the merch table when Joe was shaking hands and giving autographs, but that was before I had seen your picture so I knew who you were.  At least I saw someone who resembled your picture if my memory can be trusted.  Glad you're feeling good and back in marching shape.

Re: davenport

Not much more I can say about the show itself. Great show as everyone has written. Always a pleasure meeting up with fellow forum members. I do have a couple other things to add though.

First, I wish everyone could have seen the cool and thoughtful gifts Patty made for each band member. Patty, when you read this, maybe you could describe them better and their meaning - if you want to anyway. I wish I had asked each guy to pose for a photo with their gift. The guys just absolutely loved them!

Second, a quick story with a very sad ending. After the show was over a few of us diehards were hanging around by the barrier in front of the stage hoping that Joe and the band would come out. After a few minutes, the police started walking down the street telling people it was time to go. Well there was one of Davenport's finest standing inside the barrier and seeing that we were a harmless bunch of really loyal fans of Joe he didn't ask us to leave. Instead, he came over to us and said something like, "So, what was the name of that guy that just played, Joe who?" "Bonamassa", we said. Seizing the opportunity, I handed him one of my JB business cards and started talking about Joe and how far all of us had traveled to be there. The officer said how much he was dreading listening to one more band when he realized, "This guy can really play guitar and he can sing, too." We were really hoping he too would get a chance to meet Joe. Then he got a call. There had been an accident. A motorcyclist was killed as a result. The officer had to go. He said he was a specialist in investigating crashes where drunk driving is a likely cause.

Suhl, it sounds like you were very close to us. We were on the left side first and second rows.

Bill, have a great time in the BWCA! Check the forecast - it was below freezing in parts of NE MN last night. Great to hear your shoulder is getting better!

Re: davenport

Thanks everyone for your GREAT reviews of what sounded like another stellar performance from Joe and the boys.  I'm so excited just reading about it that I can't wait until they come back to the Uk in November.

Patty - do let us know what gifts you made for the boys.  You are so thoughtful and I'm sure they were truly appreciated.

And Rhonda ... great pix as always and I have to say I prefer Joe with his hair a little longer.

Oh yeah, the reason I never came back after going to buy the new LFNIP shirt and cd was because those police were making a sweep down the street and booting everybody out.
They wouldn't let us head back to the stage! I really wanted my cd signed...
