Topic: Where do you find new music?

Just wondering when someone mentions an artist to you, where do you go to check them out? I use youtube, myspace, and lastfm. What do the rest of you use?

I definitely use youtube primarily, since there's so much live stuff on there. I certainly did when I discovered Joe. Lost count of how many vids I watched during the week before my first gig.

The forum .... lol

No honestly, I do it the old-fashioned way most of the time and just read magazines and CD reviews and then I go to a store and listen to the albums ... believe it or not! wink

But this forum is really a never-ending source of great new music - and it seems that you can´t have a completely bad taste in music if you like Joe, so the forum folks are also the source to trust wink ...

I have heard some good music after checking out recommendations on the forum. Generally though the artists have to be either American or well established for other people to take notice. I've suggested some good artists on there and the topics have disappeared without a single comment. People sometimes just want to read about the same old artists.

Need to check out Aime Street again, I got a North Mississippi Allstars live album for free on there once. I'll check out your suggestions too Fletcher.

Re: Where do you find new music?

Just started listening to Deezer.com, and I'm impressed! It's nice to be able to listen to whole albums before I buy them.  Thanks for the heads up.....see this is a good thread. smile

At first I thought it WAS you, Deez, because you've turned me on to several artists, including Joe.

Re: Where do you find new music?

Like Eva I read  musicmagazines with CD reviews.

Magazines I read are :

Block         - A Dutch Magazin for Blues
Revolver    - A Dutch magazine for blues, bluesrock (they support Joe a lot)
Audio         -German Stereomagazines with good CD/DVD reviews.

From the forum too, a great musicknowledge overhere!

I think people check them out but if they don't like them, they won't say anything. Not saying all your suggestions are bad smile

The thing with deezer.com is if you type in a search for an artist, some songs may not play. To get them to play, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the first letter of the name of the artist.

No, they don't, you can read how many people have viewed the topic. I think its more a case of they read the artists they know. Cheers for the deezer tip smile
