Topic: Live songs that are so good that...

The live song post got me to thinking about live songs that are so good that you don't even hear the studio version on the radio. I'll start it off with Do You Feel Like We Do. There are some great ones that I can't think of right now. Help me out.

Turn The Page by Bob Seger. I think that's more because Seger has tried to bury his earlier albums before Beautiful Loser.

The obvious one (to me) from the other list is "Still in Love With You". Makes me go all gooey every time I hear it and my wife says "what's the matter with you, ya big softy". big_smile

Me too Wooders!

I played that song after my mother, my father and my sister died years ago!

Cry too when I play it, memories of the most wonderful people I daily miss.........

Speaking of Bob Segar and Thin Lizzy, Lizzy's cover of Rosalie is heard far more than the studio version.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!

Here's another one: Midnight Rambler by the Rolling Stones.

I'm guessing they were referring to Thin Lizzy's song, seen here:

I must confess I know quite little about TL other than the obvious radio hits, but having heard really good things about them from many of the folks here on the forum, I may do a lil' exploring.  Love this song....Phil Lynott was special....obviously will be missed.

This one's pretty good too....

Thanks. I've never heard it. At first I thought they meant the Scorpions song, Still Loving You.

Yes, that's the one. The youtube clip is not as good as the version on "Live and Dangerous", imo, but still pretty good. Thanks for posting the links, Carl.

Fletcher, if you haven't got a copy of Thin Lizzy's "Live and Dangerous", it's highly recommended even with all the studio overdubs. It can be picked up pretty cheaply nowadays; I've seen it new for £4 ($8) in some shops. There's a new Lizzy album out in the next couple of weeks which is a live recording from the 1970s taken from a college gig. This is a more rough and ready mix without all the overproduction of L&D and shows what a Lizzy gig was really like.

Oh and congratulations on your 100th post during this thread. smile

Thanks. I have a live version of Parisienne Walkways on a Gary Moore album with Lynott. My favorite one by Thin Lizzy is Jailbreak.
