Topic: Joe or anyone else who knows

What kind of input did Joe have in the making of the signature Les Paul? How is this Les Paul different than the Les Paul Standard? Is it hand made? Thanks.

That's a question only Joe can answer.  Usually in Artist's models there is quite a bit of input from the Artist. 
I would guess too that it depends on if it's a guitar that just resembles Joe's.  Ie:, black back, mismatched knobs, gold with black pickguard or if it's setup to Joe's spec's.  In that case Gibson would either need the guitar or Joe's direct input.

That's a lot of coin for a guitar though although I did drop 3 grand on a 2001 PRS McCarty once.  Only to sell it cuz it was nowhere near as good as my '92 PRS.

Are you getting one?  If so, you gotta let me know how it is and how it compares to other LP's.

Thanks. No I'm not getting one. It's not that I can't afford it. I can't play. I wouldn't want to deprive someone of one who could play. It's like a Ferrari. What good is it owning one if all it does is sit in your garage?

Unfortunately there's a lot of that that goes on.  Collectors grab all the old 50"s and 60's Strats and Les Pauls and hang em on a wall somewhere driving the prices up.  Most of these old fantastic instruments never see the light of day or get played.

Ditto.

  I hate it when people tell me they have X year something but NEVER play it. Guitars are made to be played! 

I'm working a deal to score a 90's LP Standard thats been played but well taken care of.  I like guitars that have a little personality to them.
