Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

Eva, I think you're going to find that the more you look, the longer your "favorites" list becomes.....until they become your favorite band!!

http://www.littlefeat.net/

Time Loves a Hero is another great CD to get into.  The title cut is one of my faves, as well as Keeping Up With the Joneses, and a tune that Lowell George wrote for his dad.....I think after he entered a nursing home.....Old Folks Boogie, that makes a hell of a lot more sense to me now than it did when I was 18!!!

I'd also have to say that Ritchie Hayward is one of the best drummers on the planet, and my personal favorite for nearly 40 years!!!

Enjoy gettin' yer Feat wet.....the water's great.....

They're at home still runnin' for bells
Better San Juan

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

I can't believe this. No really, I can't.

I posted a Feat appreciation topic ages ago, it got very little attention and kept disappearing - http://www.jbonamassa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=4221 - now all of a sudden Eva gets interested and the Feat are flavor of the month! roll

I'm just kidding, honest! big_smile

Anything that gets this magnificent band the credit and attention they deserve is fine by me. You might want to check their first LP out Eva - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Feat_(album) - I'm happy to say that I'm one of the proud 11,000 to have bought it!!!

As for three favorites? Utterly impossible.

Dixie Chicken (all 10 million versions!)
Fat Man
Rock n' roll doctor
Willin'
Truck stop girl
Sailin' shoes
Easy to slip
Two trains
Juliette
Spanish Moon
Feats don't fail me now
All that you dream
Long distance love
Missin' you
Old folks boogie (how appropriate now!)
Straight from the heart

Um,...................you get my drift!

RIP Iron Man

Well then, maybe it was just "bad timing" George .... lol

I´m gonna check all your favourites out - and maybe we can do a little "Feat-session" when we´re meeting at Geko´s house!
I think I´ll also buy the latest Live CD they have released - in case Dad hasn´t bought that one too now .... wink

We'd already discussed exactly that. big_smile

If Geko doesn't see this, can you find out if he has a Plattenspieler (if in fact you know what that is? lol) 'Cos if he does......

But of course, I have vinyl, too...lost about 3 feet of them (on a shelf) in a move long ago.

In fact the Germans have sausages and vinyl. In my case: Feats don´t fail me now, Little Feat, Dixie Chicken, Time loves a hero, The last Record Album, Sailing Shoes, Hoy Hoy, Waiting for Columbus (but here the remastered CD is much better), Down on the Farm. If you need any of these, Eva can take it with her.

I do know. lol

I´ll ask Geko about it - otherwise everyone can just bring his/her favourite records and we can have a music-marathon ... I guess all the Joe stuff will be there anyway, right Geko?! wink

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

Hello just back from holidays so I missed this conversation about the Feat lately.

Eva you asked what songs we liked most. Like George and Cathy (coincedence again??) I can't say.
I really do like the long instumental Day at the Dog Races, pure improvisation.

I was raised with the Feat too and bought all their Lp's, just missed the first one George!
I saw Lowell George the first time he was in Frank Zappa's band!! Very young but what a voice already, must have been in the late sixties, you saw that combination too Cathy??
Same age, same taste!

I can bring my turntable too if necessary, I have on old but still good Dual 510, German!!

We make it a real music weekend!!

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

Just a short message:

Just read in a German rockmagazin GITARRE that on Sunday the 24th of August Rockpalast is broadcasting a 3 hour liveshow from a festival in Cologne/Koeln from 2007.

It's from 0.00 till 03.00 on WDR 3 with Deep Purple and LITTLE FEAT!!, must be the new Feat without Lowell George as George, Eva, Gunter and I saw this year.

I'll record it on DVD and who wants copies, just let me know.

Hope it is true!!

Wonderful Gunter! big_smile

As soon as Geko confirms that we can play them, we'll put together the greatest Little Feat vinyl collection ever seen in MGB!

Eva and Gunter,

about that Rockpalastshow this weekend. As I said ; in that magazine Gitarre stood Little Feat show from Bonn 2007 is broadcasted but on the www.rockpalast.de site it will be shows from Dickey Betts and Willy(Mink) de Ville.

Wrote them an email about it, expect an answer soon. Asked them too about the Rockpalast video 1977 from Little Feat . Maybe they know how to put the American version on DVD. Till now nobody succeeded.

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

Hallo Gunter and Eva,

Michael from Rockpalast phoned me yesterday about the Featshow. He reacted on my email. I was very surprised, shows again what a wonderful TVprogram it is and what great people are working there!!!!!!

He told that they wanted to broadcast the Featshow but that the Feat themselves
forbade them too, didn't gave Rockpalast the rights to. Just a few weeks before the broadcasting, Rockpalast had to change the program.
That is now:
0.00-1.30  Mink de Ville
1.30-3.20  Dickey Betts
3.20 4.30  Blue Cheer

I'll record the whole show and can put it on CD and DVD after.

He also gave me an email address for the 1977 Rockpalast videotape to try to put it on DVD. The Videotape Cathy has was a product from the Feat themselves and made in America. Rockpalast doesn't have the rights to bring out an own DVD from the show. They wanted it but still don't have the rights.
I'll contact that person next week and see what it brings.
I 'm ill at the moment and was in bed four a few days, taking medicins and feeling a bit better. Sick in holiday isn't very nice!!!

Rockpalast: great people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
