Topic: Joe's influence

I was at a local Blues jam tonight enjoying myself when the band starts playing "Blues Deluxe" almost note for note on the intro.  I knew it right away. It was a great version.... wish I would have tapped it. Anyway I thought it was cool.

"It makes it sound like the amp is about ready to explode, that's because it IS about ready to explode." -Joe

"I've come all the way from Colorado... Long way from my home. Give me the hammer that killed John Henry..." The Ballad Of John Henry

Re: Joe's influence

Sounded great! Ive not been fortunate enough to hear a covers band play songs of people like Joe and Stevie Ray, but if i keep my eyes peeled, i might hear a bluesy number!
My band plays a bit of blues, as a bit of street team work, ive been trying to persuade them to cover a song of his, and other bands. But when my drummer said he'd never heard of him, i was very angry, and brought him straight to youtube LOL.

Re: Joe's influence

You guys need to check out Ryan McGarvey..You can hear Joe's influence esp. in his TONE. He was voted best new player at SXSW this year.

Scagey..Your friends probably don't know that some music they like is really the blues. It would be nice if you could try to arrange a "Blues in the Schools" event in the future when Joe is in your area. Until then, hit them with some Stones, Clapton, and other "Rockers" who play the Blues. Hang in there, Cathy

RE : Ryan McGarvey....Ryan's been playing new stuff in his sets as of late, and in my honest opinion, the new music when recorded will blow away the material of 'Forward In Reverse'. And, you can quote me on that. Thank you Cate and Pete for spreading the word.

Keep in mind that Ryan was only 19 when those were recorded. And in a couple of months he'll be 22. Lots of development since those tracks were laid down. Ryan will be on the radio live this coming Wednesday(August 6th) on a local college/NPR station KUNM on their weekly blues show from 9:30 EST/6:30 PST.

Live stream will be able to be accessed online here :
