Topic: Joe Tone on Strats

Hello Everybody! smile

I remeber watching some video on youtube called "joe On stratocaster" were he talked about strats. I can't find that video now, guess its removed, but I remember he mentioned something about moving a tone control so it worked on the bridge pickup.

I am thinking about doing that on my strat but i just wonder if someone knows wich one to move. The tone for the middle pickup or the neck pickup? I guess you all might have different toughts but it could be a smart thing to see wich one you should move and why smile

Thanks for reading. // Simon

P.S I bought the You & me album a few days ago, and the only Joe album i had before that was the A new day yesterday live and I tought it would be really hard to keep that cool heavy sound he had live in the studio but he defianetly Did! AWSOME ALBUM big_smile

Sorry for my bad english

I believe its the middle pick up, if you wire it so the middle pick up is on full and tone 2 controls the bridge it opens up alot of sounds smile Its a mod done quite alot on comes on some custom shop strats

Hi Simon,
Your English is fine enough.  There's another 14 year old making his presense felt here.  You can lead by example.

Sorry I don't know which pot to move.  I like You & Me a lot!!!!

Re: Joe Tone on Strats

Yea.  Remove the middle pickup tone control and move it to the bridge.  You'll have tone on the Neck and brige pick ups.  It's a very easy mod and probably $20 at a local music store if you can't do it yourself.  Look online, there's many website available showing how to modify strat wiring.

Re: Joe Tone on Strats

Sounds great, that makes strats even more versatile!!!!!!
Is it an easy job? Or does it cost a lot for some1 to do it 4 u?

Re: Joe Tone on Strats

Its a quick re-solder.... any guitar tech whos a decent person would do it for a few quid + the price of strings I'd of thought

Re: Joe Tone on Strats

I let my brother do the work because he knows how to do it! smile

Thanks for sharing the information smile

Re: Joe Tone on Strats

Can someone tell me which Gold Strat in the Fender lineup Joe feels is a copy of his, Because from the photos I have seen of his guitar it does not look like the Greg fessler model that was released. The flake on the body looks more like the Mighty Mite body than any Fender Gold sparkle In their lineup including the Dick Dale.

It's the Fender Fessler Masterbuilt 64 Gold Sparkle Strat.

Re: Joe Tone on Strats

that's old news.

on the 5 way switch, find the tone wire that goes to the middle pickup and solder it one to the left. then you'd have tone on the rhythm pickup and the lead pickup. I'm one who only uses the middle pickup in tandem with the front or rear pickup. I don't do the eric johnson middle pickup stuff.
