Angela and Libby,
Thanks for the encouragement! I knew there was something I loved about you both!
Thought I'd bring up the subject....I know the're are some younger people on here that may not have to worry too much about these issues...but then there are those in there 50s like myself that try to stay healthy....as we can see the boss ( Joe ) has really changed his appearance with all the weight loss, and looks the best I've seen him since joining the forum...what are you all doing to stay fit?....if anyone responds to the post, I'll drop down a few words of what I've been doing for the last 6 months
"Drop and give me 10"

hey, sorry i just saw this. i am pretty young so granted exercising will do more for me than most older people, but i am not someone blessed enough to just not work out. anyway i run about 15 miles a week. i lost about 30 pounds last year. i was doing more like 6-8 miles a day but after a hiatus from running due to injury, now my feet go numb after 3 miles. so anyhow, i now enjoy running after hating it for a long time, and i am in good shape and happy with myself. and the results are not immediate but they defintely happen. as it goes you notice almost no change but my body now looks totally different than it did a year and a half ago.
Remember this. No matter how much you exercise or diet, we all are born to die.
eyes to laugh, and lips to cry
all born to grow, and grown to die.
I'm giving up soda to work out during my lunches for an hour at the University. I'm starting on Monday. I'll need strength.
I'm avg. height/weight, but I wanna get my body back into "physical form" as opposed to "deskjob form."
Down 37 pounds as of this morning.
GOOD JOB!

I've nearly cut my dinner down to almost nothing but a can of tuna in water and some vegetables....told the wife, my body doesnt need much at night...she thinks I'm taking this nutrition thing to far, I've never read can labels like this....hmm, maybe she's right, nahhhh.... Ive noticed I'm leaning out in my midsection and dropped a few inches on my waist line...now if only my hair would grow all the way back
Mr. Midlife Crisis
I'm looking at a set of weights on the floor in here right now.
A few more weeks of that, and I'll have the strongest eyes on the block.....

I just came back fro 90 minutes of Bikram Yoga and I want my mommy. I did a Shao-lin workout with my son the other day and I thought that was bad. It had to be 110 in that Bikram studio and 100% humidity. Pass the water.

Carmine I take it??...yeah dats it, I want to be playing like dat...er, I meen looking like dat...I meen...oh nevva mine
Had my programme worked out at the gym the other day:
1st cross trainer warm-up
next leg press 79kg (15 reps x 3)
next lat pull down around 24kg (15 reps x 3)
next close lat pull down (biceps) 26kg (15 reps x 3)
next shoulder press 3kg free weights each arm (15 reps x 3)
next sitting fly free weights 2kg each arm (15 reps x 3)
next press ups (over excercise ball greatest extension possible between thighs and ankles - 15 reps x 3)
next sit ups x 25
next legs to one side sit ups x 25
next pelvic lifts x 25
next shoulder raises (to stretch back out) x 25
next THE BADDEST EVILEST EXCERCISE EVER - feet on excercise ball, pelvic lift off floor (only parts of body touching floor shoulders and back of head) start stretched out, then bring feet towards the buttocks without back touching the floor x 25!!! OUCH! - apparently this is great for gluts, hamstrings etc etc etc etc etc...................................................
then CV
crosstrainer x 8 mins highest level without not being able to talk
rowing machine x 8 mins - again higherst level without "passing out"
treadmill x 8 mins - highest "hill" level possible without hamstrings snapping!
Then STREEEEEETCH!
Only a mere 2 1/2 hours to work this out!
Should take around 1 -1 /12 hours to do twice a week for the next 6 weeks weeks then take a weeks break then review - whew!
Thats not to mention the three hours a week step aerobics that I already do (swapping one hour from previous four to do weight training) and Yoga 1 1/2 hours (when the school holidays finish that is!)
The diet is going OK - at the last count I was down to 10 stone 11 pounds although I think that I am replacing fat with muscle which weighs heavier so they say!

Gulp ... I'm impressed Vicky, but it made me feel knackered just reading it! It takes a lot of discipline to do that little lot twice or three times a week.
Think I'll stick to my yoga

My goodness, thats very impressive....I'm no where near that routine, but fortunately a have a very fast metabolism...I'm down to 188lbs, which is 20lbs lighter than one year ago...I'm really concetrating on lowering my carb intake and increasing protein....I've always said a flat stomach impresses me more than muscle mass...striations are coming through...god I hate abb work, but it's paying off big time....My goal is to have a tight six pack by next summer, and I will!....the neighbors have made comments on the changes in my body, the wife doesnt say much ....keep it up Vicky, glad you have the drive to keep up that pace, you must feel awsome
Shred....(the pounds, that is)
Shred
Its getting easier as I go along - although the step aerobics class straight after the weights session was a bit of a strain on Thursday - my calves really felt it the next day
The reducing carbs is mucho important - I find that just reducing my bread intake makes a real difference to how bloated I feel and how flat my stomach looks
