Already a Rock and Roll of Fame inductee, Guy will on July 20 receive the Great Performer of Illinois Award during a ceremony at Chicago's Millennium Park.

The artist will be on tour in North America beginning July 23 in Silverton, Ore., with support from George Thorogood & the Destroyers.

Thanks for the news Keith. Buddy will be over in the UK for a few dates, including Glastonbury in a few weeks. I'm going to see him in Glasgow. Wonder if he'll play any of the new songs, I guess with Buddy, only he knows! smile

I can't wait for that show Buddy and George Thorogood!  I've got 6th row seats in Baltimore.  Thanks for the album info as I wasn't aware of all of those cameos.  Buddy Guy used to be my favorite blues artist.  He's now number 2 on my list.  Wonder if you can figure who now tops the list?

Re: Clapton, Robert Randolph, Derek Trucks To Appear on New Buddy Guy CD

I'm right behind you Keith in wishing Buddy a great one.  I only knew it was his birthday because of Joe's show.

I haven't gotten the CD yet, but have heard some cuts on Sirius 74.  HAPPY 72nd BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!!

Joe dedicated the Cup of Joe to Buddy today and played 3 songs: Man of Many Words, Stormy Monday and a new one from Skin Deep. Joe said the new CD smoked!!! I usually take notes when I want to relay a show, but I was driving today. Joe mentioned that Buddy has reinvented himself about 5 or 6 times over his career and credits Buddy with being the first to push the dial on the amp to 10,(did a little techy guitar talking which I can't relay too good) Hendrix and lots of the British Blues guys learned from Buddy!

edited to add: now that I see the list of songs it was " That's My Home" with Robert Randolph that Joe played...great song!

Skin Deep is really fantastic.

While I am admittedly biased, I think the vocals and the guitars are wonderful and the cameos are really neat too.  I think it's amazing that this is Buddy's first album of all new material given that he's been at it for 50+ years!

The "professional" reviews that I've seen have all been very good as well.

I'll take him the card Keith.  LOL.  FINALLY - we'll see Buddy TONIGHT for the FIRST TIME......  I know, I know, I've said it before, BUT, it's too exciting not to say - FRONT ROW CENTER!!!!  I should be able to hand him the card, or at least toss it from there.  lol.

I'll bet he's 72 goin' on 52.  Wow.  This is gonna be GREAT.  I was going to wear a polka dot dress, but think I'll go with a little black number with the LONG black scarf with bone colored polka dots........and he'll KNOW I came to see HIM.

AND,you KNOW who I'm followin' Buddy up with, right???  A big tall double dose of Joe.......

Yes, indeed, I love Buddy.  I hope we get the chance to meet him.

I'll try to pick up the CD at the show.....

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Clapton, Robert Randolph, Derek Trucks To Appear on New Buddy Guy CD

I must make a bigger commitment on this forum, u all give the greatest news, me, no so often, i tend to answer or ask. So i promise to find news on joe to tell. Thanks anyway, sounds great!
I was fortunate enough to hear him perform Skin Deep at glastonbury on tv. I thought it was great!

Blues and all other music is forever changing, I really like how Joe has done it, and Buddys new material is just as good! He rules when it comes to lyrics, and his playing is some of the best.

Having clapton on this record WILL be somethin else! Might have to look in  to getting that.

Cheers
