Topic: John Hiatt

Of course, I've known 'about' John Hiatt for years, but I have only recently started to appreciate what an exceptional singer/songwriter he is - and what sweet sounds he gets out of a guitar!

I assume that that other lovely sounding instrument is a mandolin - if not, somebody kindly clue me in.

Just found this gem, 'Ridin' with the king' with the utterly wonderful Sonny Landreth! big_smile

Re: John Hiatt

yeah, it's a mandolin.  people older than me who made me a fan of real music , my dad, my unle, and to a lesser extent my mom all love hiatt.  same with other people i don't know that well but whose tastes i respect.  im not that into him now, but i imagine i will be at some point in time.

Re: John Hiatt

He's an amazing fellow....I touted him on the old forum??? He's a modern day Stephen Foster in my mind, and yes a
great musician too.  Sometimes makes acoustic rock electrically and electrics "feel" sonically like acoustics (Among other tricks).
That literal vocal cry of his can get a tad much (live, that is), but I am being very overly critical.  He's golden.
