Having just seen Joe live for the very first time I was blown away by the sight and sound of his Gigliotti GT and I am seriously considering purchasing one of my very own.
Any of you guys out there own/played one of these beauties and willing to tell me a bit more about how they feel etc.

Millhouse, just go to www.gigliotti.com They are quite expensive but Ive been thinking of getting me one also!!! Havent played one though. Joe not only makes it look easy but makes it look pleasurable!

Thanks Rob, I agree that Joe makes it look effortless and joyful but that axe is stunning. I had paid a visit to Giglliotti.com and like what I see.
I'm just hoping someone on the forum has actually laid hands on a GT and can give me the lowdown.

I own a GT Custom (the same as Joe's first one but with new headstock and no Joe signature on back). For the price you can't beat it. They really aren't expensive when you compare them to buying a Les Paul Standard today. You're getting a custom guitar that is made to what you want for that price.
Mine has a big neck, the only change I made to it was put Joe Barden's in it, I found they were the best pickup for the guitar (for what I wanted out of it). It is as very well designed and constructed guitar. Also Pat Gigliotti is the nicest guy on the planet and very open to hearing your ideas. Mine is 1 of 4 guitars I play out on a regular basis. The only thing I would say is that if you don't like heavy guitars...get used to it...mine is heavier than my Les Paul so I just got a wide padded strap for it to make it comfortable.

Thanks for the reply and the pics. It really is a stunning guitar. Are the Joe Barden pickups an extra cost as Patrick is ony listing Voodoo, Lindy Fralins and Bill Lawrence these days. Are the Barden's humbuckers? You say for what you wanted out of it. What sound are you into? Does this beauty offer good sustain?

Great photo Wood. I thought that Joe Bardens were no longer in production....where did you get them?
I put the Barden's in after I got it because the Lollar Specials he threw in were not the right pickups for the guitar. The guitar has a ton of sustain, all of my main guitars have alot of sustain, I'd say the Gigliotti has the most.
I got mine at www.joebarden.com, they are back in business, before that I was getting them by scouring the internet and vintage shops. It's amazing what you can find if you ask the right questions.
Here's my main rig as of right now: Strat/Tele > Vox V847 (with TB Switch) > Boss TU-2 > Fulltone Mini Deja-Vibe > Xotic RC Booster > Fulltone Full-Drive 2 10th > 1996 Matchless Chieftain (2x12 combo), Fx Loop: Boss DD-3 If you know that gear it'll give you a sense of what I'm into. It's setup for a bluesy rock tone, but I tend to stay on the cleaner side of overdrive. The Vox V847 is dying right now so that'll come out of the board until I get a new wah (deciding what to get now).
I tried everywhere for Bardens about a year or so ago...glad to hear they're back. Cool rig you have.....seems the TU2 is on everyones board right now (mine too). I'm just selling my Clapton Strat to help fund a Gigliotti and I'm thinking of returning to Cornford MK50 again....haven't found a tone as good since I sold it.
Wood....what's the neck profile like on your GT....say compared to a new Les Paul? 50's or 60's profile?.....or maybe something other than that?? I'd appreciate your opinion.

It's a fat meaty neck, think EJ style neck with more heft. If you don't like fat necks...this is not a neck size for you. I love it along with a Fatback C Shape 1" that I have on my main Stratocaster

No problem. If you get one, make sure the pickups are of a brighter tone...something more 50s style.
the price on these need to come down to around $1299 for me to consider buying one. Plus I'd like to play one before I'd think to buy it. JB could probably make a railroad tie with strings stapled to it sound like a '59 LP!

Aw, dude. Say it ain't so! Selling a Clapton Strat?? If only I could afford it.
But seriously gsj. Can I email you a picture? There is a guitar that Andy Fairweather Low is playing, and I don't know what it is. You'll know, I'm sure.
selling the clapton is a good move. The gigliotti is more rare, and instead of a guy playing a "clapton strat" you'll be the guy playing "that cool new guitar I've never seen before"
Everybody knows the Fender name though...long term you'll have a guitar that'll sell for more because people recognize the name. If you have an earlier Clapton, they're already going up in value slightly. Keep the Clapton if you dig it and buy a Gigliotti outright when you can. Patrick Gigliotti is the nicest guy and will build you a guitar you'll want to keep. Luckily I hate the Clapton necks so I have an EJ Strat and the Gigliotti GT Custom...among others...
Gigliotti is a small operation...I highly doubt you'll see one for $1,299. 
I got mine before he raised the price so I got one for a bit cheaper than they are now.
Now if I can sell this other guitar, amp and pedal to pay for my Great River mic pre I just picked up...that'd be great!
