Topic: White Room

I hope you will forgive a little self promotion.

My band is White Room,a three piece power trio, based in the West Country U.K.We don't have a website just yet.Fourteen months ago I was a driver/ roadie for my guitarist. When his new band first met ,the bassman didn't turn up.So I was given the job; although I had never picked up a bass before....

We are almost ready to gig ,having changed drummer and booted out some tracks so we could accomadate JB stuff.I thought that the forum may be interested in the genre of music we are doing, so here goes , this is our set.....

Hé Hé hé thanx

Re: White Room

Thanks Shredderman - I'll give you a 'heads up' if we ever play at Mr Kyps.

Bournemouth was firm 'crossroads territory' in the'70's.

If we ever play down your way I'll have to get one of those T Shirts with 'Tell Your Mum I Said Hi ! ' on it.

Re: White Room

cool choice of songs.  in my opinion comfortably numb is really out of place in that setlist, but it probably doesnt matter.

Suhl ,

Thanks for your feedback - this is what I wanted.

Yes I agree , Comfortably Numb is not in the Genre at all.It is a legacy of the taste of our previous drummer and my guitarist's prog rock roots. It is a very effective number for our band - the Gibson really sings.

We intend to only play it as an encore- to bring the audience down and to play something different and interesting - before ripping them up again with our 'stomping'finale - Tush

We'll have to see if that works.

I'll email you back today with my thoughts.  What bass are you playing now?

The drummer is a top man. An old boy who was a session man in the mid- late Sixties. Toured as support to Yes around Europe.Played with Alan Bown for 9 months.Alan Bown had played out in Hamburg on the same stages as the Beatles and Tony Sheridan .When he formed his own group it was one of those groups who had people go through it who made their names elsewhere .For eg.John Helliwell - Supertramp, Jess Roden ,Gordon Neville - Elton John Band ,Mel Collins - King Crimson/Alexis Korner .Jimi Hendrix once watched Alan Bown when he came over to the U.K. and liked Bown's version of "All Along The Watchtower" and went on and made his version as a consequence. So we have some legacy there. This may explain why we have to lift all his gear in.Of course, he now has a free bus pass, hearing problems and tennis elbow but yeah , he can just about count to 4 o.k. !!

Drummer test - What comes after 4 ?
Answer -           1.
Pass - 10/10 , you are a drummer.

I have a deaf drummer also.  He's as big a jerk as I am.  We were once at the local bucket o blood watching this metal rock bassman play a solo at a blues jam and he says to me, at the top of his lungs..."...can't he find the note he wants?  The right note has to be somewhere on that axe."

I fell on the floor helpless and just brayed.  All the blues brothers laughed like hell and all the metal heads flexed their tatoos and scowled, which made me laugh even more.
