Topic: Back Door Slam Burlington, Vt

Is anyone going to the Back Door Slam concert in Burlington, Vt this Thursday (July 17)? I know that one of the original "promoters" of these guys on this forum is from the Boston area and did go see them in Vermont.   I have so been wanting to see these guys and when I originally saw the date and where thought no way!  The fates have intervened-I actually have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off, so now my future daughter-in-law, my Mom and myself are going to have a "girl's short vacation" centered around what is sure to be an awesome show.  And it's free! smile  And Ben&Jerry's ice cream is right down the road! smile

Yes Sandy I've seen them twice in Vermont both at "The Higher Ground" and both great shows. Looking forward to seeing them again on the 17th. should be a great setting ( Battery Park on Lake Champlain. ) Though I too wish they'd play closer to Boston it's a great excuse for a mini-vacation. Their worth the 4 hour drive .You wont be dissapointed. You'll have 3 generations of fans after they witness Back Door Slam.

Re: Back Door Slam Burlington, Vt

I'm a little slow getting to this, had to work all weekend, needed time to play with  the pictures [which are not my best-new camera, lots to learn].

Back Door Slam lived up to all the hype I've heard on this forum and then some.  I love just about everything I've heard them do and was not disappointed with the live experience.  Got to meet and talk to Davy before the show, what a sweet guy.  Brought cookies and the suggested brand of tea-much appreciated!  Is Davy really 21-he looks much younger, sings and plays way older-as many others have said here he has an "old soul".  The crowd was quite a mix-from babies to seniors and everyone seemed to be having a great time.  There were a lot of teens who were really enjoying themselves-hope for the future Cathy!  My Mom, who is in her seventies loved them, as did my future daughter-in-law.  Paul, you were right-three generations of fans!

Great set.  Only disappointment was not getting to hear Davy playing the mandolin.  They did play a couple of new songs they are working on for their next album-can't remember titles but they were very good.  No Red House!  These guys are so good now I can't believe what they will be in the future.  It is so much fun watching musicians grow, I have certainly enjoyed watching Joe continue to grow and mature, and look forward to a similar trip with these guys!

Here are a few pictures [not my best, but new camera, steep but fun learning curve]

Thanks for introducing these guys to us Paul!

Fun pics, Sandy.  I especially like the one of the little guy holding his shorts, ready to get right up there w/ the boys, looking like, "hey, I wanna do that!"
( And I know what you mean about a new camera, too. )

I'm hoping to see BDS for the first time this Saturday in Naperville.

Great musicians have a language & vocabulary that transcends the usual barriers & touches us on a more primitive , basic & yet complex level....

VERY nice Sandy.  THANKS for sharing.  So happy that you were able to see them.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-
