Topic: The Boss.........3rd Time Lucky

My last two threads have been closed due to someone going 'off topic' or getting 'all political' and I'm not sure if I should start a 3rd thread......but I like to live life on the edge from time to time so here we go......

Anyone see The Boss (Bruce) on his current tour? Got any photos or bootlegs to share?

How funny is that? big_smile

I just attempted to post the following where you first posted it -

Those closures were hardly down to you though, Geoff.

Just a thought - wouldn't this have been better in 'Other artists'?

Does last November count? Saw him play most of the new album in Arnhem, which disappointed me somewhat as it's by no means a favorite. Fantastic, tight E. St. Band as always, my last view of Danny Federicci, but somehow something was missing.

I was too far away to take pics and am unaware of bootlegs, sorry.

Re: The Boss.........3rd Time Lucky

gsj,

Saw the "Boss" last Nov. myself, didn't take any pix and didn't bootleg anything either. When I'm at a live concert I like to have one hand free to hold a beverage and the other free to pump in the air if I like what I'm hearing and or canoodling with a lady friend if present. Can't really tell you much about the show as it was an easily forgettable experience. If it was Joe, Skynyrd, BDS, Knopfler, Tommy Castro, Albert Cummings, Los Lobos, etc. I could ramble on & on.

Re: The Boss.........3rd Time Lucky

Geoff,

Methinks the Boss gets a better press in Europe these days......

I saw Bruce 3 times on the Magic Tour; at the O2 in December 2007 (excellent), Emirates Stadium on 30th May (even better) then the Millenium Stadium (probably one too many but could be the last E Street Band gig in the UK for a long time).

Sorry, no photos but for bootlegs, I refer you to the mighty mp3 index on the BTX Promised Land forum on www.backstreets.com.  The are more bootlegs on that site than you could shake a stick at, stuff going right back to 1973 up to most of the shows on the last tour.

Message boarders post photos too, if you've got the time to browse the threads.

As there's no buying or selling going on, Bruce lets it go.  Studio bootlegs are not available for download.

If you are familiar with downloading  WinRar files you'll have a field day.  The are other sites, including Jungleland for instance, but Backstreets is a damn good place to start.

A JB mp3 index is not a bad idea for this fine site to consider perhaps (or the JB taping polciy changed?).

Hope this helps.

Your DRY brit humor is a welcome splash.

I've never understood the Bruce's attraction.  He IS an incredible songwriter, but I don't get the rush.

So the answer is nope, not me.

Thanks Andy, I'll check it out. By the way, where in the Essex Delta are you from? The Dengie is known as The Essex Delta....Burnham, Southminster etc.

Geoff

Always happy to help on the Boss front.  Backstreets is well worth a visit, the message board is full of people with an unhealthy obsession with all things  E Street-related, nothing like this fine upstanding forum of course.

Family is from Brightlingsea, so I suppose it's more up the creek than the Delta, but  I'm actually in the Chelmsford area, which is not something I shout about, hence the admittedly misleading Mid Essex Delta tag - I didn't think anyone would ask!

Jeff have you ever been to a Springsteen concert? I thought the same until I went to one of his shows years ago. That changed my appreciation for his music. I would never have gone if it wasn't for the girl I was dating at the time.

Bruce once commented that since he knew he wasn't a great guitar player he worked extra hard at his song writing.

No I haven't.  I'm fairly sure I would feel differently if I had.  But I don't get it yet.  I like him...don't get me wrong at all, and when my friends put him on, I stomp my feet and sing along.  I don't own one of his CDs, though.
