Kid Rock....not a kid and not rock from what I've heard on the radio lately. Maybe I'm missing something??

I agree with you never have like his music, what is all the fuss about Kid Rock!!

He was born in 1971, so certainly no kid. While I'm glad that BDS will get on a stadium tour in the USA, I'm pretty peeved that they are not doing a few gigs for their fellow Europeans.
Can't someone get them deported?

He's also now a single man, so you could be right! Thank goodness for your strict visa requirements or they may never been seen here again!

Just back from seeing the boys in Baltimore at Artscape, a HUGE festival! It's very hot and humid here, so if I didn't love them I would never have ventured there! Luckily Jane hooked Bob and me up with the light rail, so we got dropped right there!! The band was on a stage at the end of one of the festival "arms". We got there around 4??..BDS was scheduled for 5:30, but we didn't feel like roaming around, so we found some shade (just like the cows do).
I think they have enough tea and cookies for a while, so I took a new "Live From Nowhere", autographed shirt for Davy. I saw one of the "crew" and gave it to him to give Davy. It was maybe one minute and I see Davy come out with the shirt in his hands looking around, so I got to have a short chat. I suggested he wear it for an interview, I know, but it's worth saying. He promises he will NOT be influenced by Kid Rock, said "You know I'm Not a Rocker"..lol, but is excited about Skynyrd. I asked when they would be in Europe and he had no idea. He said they still have an album to do some time soon..so..sorry friends, come on across the pond...
When they took the stage the audience was a respectful number, but grew to a large crowd quickly!! The Bonamaniacs were clustered in front of Davy, so Jane could do her head banging, Bob and I got great shots, and Chris tapped the songs on his chect....I leave songs to the others, but it was another GREAT BDS show. LOTS of new fans, no doubt about that!
Davy was swamped immediately after the show. It was good to see. Lots of folks in line to get a CD! I did get my Guitar Player mag. signed and the pic Shred sent of Davy playing a GIBSON!..that should be under "rare" photos in the future! He does love his Fender. lol
It was wonderful to see all three..they are STILL the nicest young men. I'm watching them SOAR and really getting off on it!! Tired but happy, Cathy
Great review Cathy!!! I'm SO HAPPY that you were able to see the boys again - even if it was HOT and HUMID!!!
Mass quanties of tea and cookies, eh?? LOL.
It all sounds like GREAT fun. Wish I could have been there with you all.

Hey,
Europe has Joe and we have BDS. It's called the United Nations of Music.

Good for the boys...terrible for anyone that likes good music. Sorry, but Skynyrd and Kid Rock stink.
i'm sorry to hear that. fans of kid rock don't really understand good music and get turned off by it. i have seen skynyrd lately, few real fans there, most want to get drunk and hear free bird. and i don't like cashing in on dead family members, but i think they do still have rossington. i guess it can't hurt the band but i really don't think it will help them much either. kid rock? i honestly can't think of a worse fit for them. as to his shows being good, with the right hired guns it is hard for live music to be bad. sorry to be pessimistic about this, it is just realism. has anyone heard the latest kid rock single. it is one of the worst songs i have ever heard and it is not an exaggeration. it is like he is insulting his fans intelligence. when will he get that he is not going to ever write a great summer anthem and get over it? probably around the same time he stops pretending to be a southerner who didnt spend all his time coming up playing rap rock.
Arrrrrggghhhhhh!!!!!!
My only chance to see BDS was tomorrow as I'm on the road in Tennessee this week. The show at the Exit In (Nashville) was just cancelled!
Davy I hope you get over that stomach bug soon! Hope to catch you guys on your next US tour!
Anything that brings this style of music to the mainstream audience is a good thing. Think of the possibilities of a young Kid Rock fan being inspired to pick up a guitar and learn to play after hearing Davy, or even Ricky Medlocke/Gary Rossington of Skynyrd. I find it strange how anyone would think this to be a bad thing, as it's a win win situation, and it will pick up the band undoubtedly many new fans. Say what you want about Kid Rock (and there's a LOT which can be said) but he has been quick to cite classic rock bands as influences and help out whenever possible, exposing them to new audiences they otherwise never would be exposed to. Anything that helps the genre of guitar based rock should be encouraged, no matter who's the one encouraging it. Otherwise all we'll be left with is bland pop diva wanna be's and rap, neither one of which is very conducive to guitar based music.
i think it's bad because i don't think it is going to win them nearly as many new fans as opening for good bands(i respect rossington though i don't care for bastardized skynyrd nor do i think rossington was a big influence to davy but i could easily be wrong) that play a similar type of music could do far far more. if i thought this would have any kind of significant impact on their fanbase i'd like it, but sadly i don't believe it will, that is why i don't think it is a good think. i guess it can't hurt.
