Topic: Hello to everyone ....

Hello everyone .....

I just found this site, ok I'm off on the wrong foot here already, I'm lying about that.  LOL My wife found it for me and passed it along. We are both big blues fans and I can tell the truth about one thing, I introduced her to the blues about 12 years ago and she has been addicted ever since. I think the biggest thing for her is the pure talent and feeling that our favorite blues musicians have. Growing up I was lucky that my father was more into old southern blues then anything else. I'm talking about 45 years ago plus. I was lucky that as a small boy he would hold me on his knee while he tuned into a few radio stations each Sunday afternoon and hummed along to the music. I gradually got the blues bug and it has stuck with me now for over 40 years. IN the early 80's a new guy came to work in my office and we got along quite well. Then one day we got together socially and he was playing the usual type of music to keep as many people as possible happy for the night. I mentioned that I had this LP by a guy ... yes LP ... LOL ... named Stevie Ray Vaughan and would he be interested to hear it. Well, he opened a door in his basement and he had, and still has, over 4000 LPs and today about 1/10 that amount of CDs. NO need to say that the friendship is so strong today we are as close as brothers. I have been so fortunate in finding such a true friend and we have shared a lot of music over the last 25 years. He is one of the most knowledgeable people of music I've met in my life.

So, before this turns into a small novel I'll cut this short. I live in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Canada with my lovely wife Jeanne. My main music preference is blues but I love to listen to anyone who plays or sings from the heart.

I am a huge Joe Bonamassa fan, and the man can get the job done without blinking an eye. He is an incredible talent.

Everyone have a great weekend and I love to read opinions from other people about their favorite musicians.

Re: Hello to everyone ....

Welcome Davey-mac, you have checked into the best forum available for people who like their Blues. We are a really friendly bunch from all over the place. We all have one thing in common - Joe - plus one or two other interests (Bluesman loves Back Door Slam as well - as do a lot of us too) We get together at Joe's gigs and yes we wind each other up at times but it's all in good fun. If you have not had the pleasure of seeing Joe live, make the effort, save the money, do whatever you have to do but just do it - it will be the best experience of your life - no-one has come close, for me at least, to moving me to tears, to elevating me to the highest highs, as Joe in a live gig -  a life changing event - every time!! I'll leave it at that - hope to read your continuing posts

Re: Hello to everyone ....

Welcome to the forum Davey-Mac. Sounds like music plays a very big part in your life. I think the same can be said of all the folk who frequent this fine forum of Joe's. Life would certainly be very dull without it, eh? I'm sure you will be bringing a wealth of musical knowledge here, look forward to your thoughts.

Re: Hello to everyone ....

Dave,
Welcome to the forum. Glad you (oops, I mean your wife) found this site.
I chuckled for a minute when I saw your name and location...I figured you must be the "non-famous" brother.
By the way, how are Doug and Bob doing? Sorry, you probably get a lot of that.
Seriously, I look forward to your posts. It seems like you've got a lot of musical knowledge to share.

Re: Hello to everyone ....

Thank you for the kind comments everyone. From what I see posted here, I can honestly say that I'm in the right place with the right people. Well, except for Bill S.  - just kidding Bill.

Yep, I did get a bit of a ribbing from people when I mentioned my name. Check this site out. I'm sure you can readily appreciate the questions that were thrown my way. Some of the questions and comments were friggin' hilarious. I really do believe that some people expected me to sit back and drink beer from 8AM to 11PM and then go HOSER on them. I really got a charge out of the skits that these two guys played out on TV. They were definitely Canadian Icons.

How she' goin' hosers eh? smile

Again everyone, the comments from all of you are very much appreciated.

Thank You;

Dave,
I'm glad you took that in the good nature that it was delivered in.
Those guys were frggin hilarious, and I hadn't thought about them in years.
In fact, I actually did a search after I posted and found the website you just linked.

Thanks, and again...welcome to Joe's forum!
