Topic: Hello from Las Vegas

I am one of the many natives of Las Vegas. I was one of the few natives, but this town is growing so fast there are more natives everyday. Vegas was a great place to grow up being a 24hr town who could complane.

I meet JB after his show at The Canyon Club in Las Vegas. I told him I was a huge fan, of "Rik Emmett". I asked JB if he had listened to any of Rik's solo stuff. He had only listened to Absolutely Rik's first solo effort. JB made one hell of an impression and a new fan that night. The second time I went to see JB was in Henderson, NV a few months later. I left some of Rik's cd's at Joe's tour bus. I don't know if he ever got them, I figured he might like Rik's blues effort RAW quartet. Rik's seconded cd Ipso Facto, Rik has one great blues song called "Out of The Blue", it's a tribute to SRV. I'M looking forward to some more Triumph US dates, Vegas would be nice. I would really love to see a Rik Emmett and Joe Bonamassa cd. That would be incredible! I don't see Joe scheduled for any Vegas shows again this year. I hope to see him back soon.

Take care...

Hello REF,

Welcome to Joe Bonamassa's Forum.  How soon would you like to see Joe back to Vegas??  Would 9/20/08 be soon enough??  I'm here to give you hope.  Looks like it's not a confirmed date yet (or it would be on THE Tour Page here), but, Pollstar is showing a Las Vegas date for Joe on 9/20/08.  I'm keepin' an eye on it myself.  Check it out:

I feel a bit like a Fairy Godmother.  Hope to see you there.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Welcome to the forum REF. I can't say I'm familiar with Rik Emmett but, like everyone on this great forum, I am totally Bonaddicted. Have fun in here and I guarantee you will learn a lot.

Rik Emmett is the very high voiced, great guitarist from Triumph. Canadian rock, kind of overshadowed by Rush (other high voiced Canadian rockers). Do all you Canadians have high voices REF? smile
Just kidding, welcome to Joe's forum!

Re: Hello from Las Vegas

Tipsy, Rik Emmett is the Joe Bonamassa of the early 80's. Rik was featured and wrote for about every guitar mag of the time. Then corporations thought they could run the music industry better by picking the song and style of music for musicians to play, This was just one of the factors that brought an end to Triumph. Rik's solo career has featured almost every category of music to date and made them his own. If you like to play you should try and attend one of Rik's workshops. You probably wont find any of rik's solo works at your local music store but you can probly download raw Quartet or Live at Berklee. I'M sure you will like them both. Triumph Classics is the best of release from Triumph you might like it also.
