Topic: Roy and the Packer Fans

Hey Roy,

Is there anything you can do across the lake to keep Favre from coming back?
Being originally from WI and the BIGGEST Packer fan currently outside the state...
I see this whole situation is NOTHING but TROUBLE...

I wish he's stick to his "guns" and stay retired. Of course if he came back to GB I'd cheer him on, but I think the situation right now is ridiculous.

I'm on the Rodgers train right now. Way past the Favre era. It was good while it lasted, but I'm over it. Or let #4 hold the clipboard until Rodgers gets hurt.

Re: Roy and the Packer Fans

I agree Roy - watching that press conference I kept thinking this is not a guy ready to
retire.  The Giants game was too much for him to handle mentally.  But the team has
to be fair to Aaron - every year he is waiting in the wings for Brett's decision.  Now it's
July and he still doesn't know where he stands - I say give him a chance and see
what happens - he deserves it.  We also drafted another QB that is going to be looking
over Aaron's shoulder.

Re: Roy and the Packer Fans

i agree with all of these things.

I guess GB didn't have much input to ask him to stay or tell him to leave at first. This year, he's already missed a QB camp in GB. Now if he comes back, it's going to be awkward. Ted Thompson loves draft picks and also looks ahead to forsee whats best for the team. Keeping that attitude into perspective, it would mean trading Favre away for draft picks (MIA or TB?) and keeping Rodgers.

The big thing about trading away Favre is that
A) new coaching, who knows what they'll say to him
B) new system, new playbook, new nomenclature of plays
C) different way of control, 'who calls the shots' etc
....and Favre doesn't want to go through all that BS

So I think if he decides to come back, he will be given the decision to
1. ride the pine,
2. OR compete for starting position (but lose to Rodgers no matter what),
3. OR get traded (in which he'd retire instead of getting traded because of the above).

No matter how you slice it, it's going to get ugly I think...I was hoping it was just a slow week in the NFL.

Re: Roy and the Packer Fans

Favre scenario: Brett wants to still play

                       Packer fans are thrilled

Management and coaches don't want him though

                       Bears need an experienced QB

Brett takes Bears to Super Bowl victory

Pack fans wish he'd just stayed retired

                       HEY! It could happen
