Topic: Hello from Portland

Hey all - Steve E. checking in from Portland, Oregon.  Grew up in Hawaii but have been a long time Portland resident.  Been playing guitars for 27+ years, I'm an equal opportunity offender loving Les Pauls, Strats, Tele's and my new favorite ES-339.  Prefer the Marshall end of things for amp flavors but love the Fender cleans as well.

Currently in my CD changer:
Phillip Sayce - "Peace Machine"
UFO - "Strangers in the Night"
Joe Bonamassa - "New Day Yesterday"
Thin Lizzy  - "Definitive Collection"
Gary Moore - "Corridors of Power"
Nora Jones - "Feels like Home"

I'll give pretty much any music / musician a chance for a listen or two - the above loaded disc selection represents this weeks ear candy although some of it has a permanent home.  Bonamassa is pretty much my current favorite guitar player along with E.J. and Phillip Sayce.

I'm fortunate to have lived in a couple of beautiful places and always amazed at the depth of incredible guitar players that lurk in the Pacific Northwest.  Always up for a beer and a jam - you never know who you will meet that will change your perspective on things.

YAY STEVE!!!  I'm SO GLAD you found your way over to the Introduction Page!!!  Hopefully we can keep it appropriately happy and celebratory here!!!  A VERY WARM WELCOME TO YOU!!!

Indeed, I LOVED your first post, and, in case you missed it, I want you to please note, at the bottom of my post, that I have grabbed two quotes from other Members to use as part of my constant signature - you will recognize yours as the second one - hey!!!  I LOVE KAZOOOOS!!!

You're gonna have a GOOD TIME here, I just know it.  Lots of fun, info, friendships, a regular LOVEFEST (most of the time - LOL).  So glad you're here.  And yes, indeed, you have been lucky enough to live in TWO of my favorite spots......LOVE PORTLAND.....LOVE MANY PLACES ON THE ISLANDS - where, specifically were you raised??  My favorite is the North Shore of Kauai - Haena, Princeville, etc. - but,  I have a list of runner-ups too.  Tell me more.    smile

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum,

its a great place to hang around. Many guitarists recently which is great. big_smile

How does your ES 339 play?
I haven't seen it in natural and am not sure about the micky mouse body.
But it should play and sound very good. Hope to try it soon.
I ordered a Gigliotti GT 2 months ago. Every 3-4 weeks I ask for the order state or some
preview pics. Patrick G. is nice but not very talkative in his mails...

Enjoy,
Alex

Hey Alex -

The ES-339 is pretty much magic in all categories.  I know there were some QC issues with the first run but mine was perfect.  Also, being that it's only just about the size of a Les Paul, it's far less Mickey Mouse looking than say an ES-335.

You'll love your incoming Gigliotti, very cool guitars.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody.

Re: Hello from Portland

Hi Steve and welcome to Joe world. As you've already witnessed, there are many, knowledgable musicans here. And, what a nice guitar collection. I don't play, but I love gear. I think guitars are art!

I love your area of the US. I've traveled the entire Columbia River, then past the Sister's to Crater Lake, the Rogue River and then the entire coast..Absolutely beautiful. The only draw back is I don't like salmon, so I lost weight on that trip! lol   Have fun, Cathy

Re: Hello from Portland

Hi Steve E. Welcome to the introductions section! Great first post by the way. Did you hear about the new Thin Lizzy album coming out in September. It is a live recording made in 1975 for a radio broadcast. It's only recently been discovered. cool
