Topic: Alex Wilson Band

For anyone in Wisconsin - get out to see this band!  OMG - They played at a tiny bar
in Two Rivers tonight - started at 4 (nothing moves in TR after 5 PM) and played for
4 1/2 hours with only 2 short breaks.  Alex is on quitar, his brother on bass and
uncle on drums.  Started with a crowd of about 20 - by the time they ended there
were maybe 60 people screaming for more - he did 2 encores....original stuff, Muddy
Waters, Jonny Cash, Doors, Hendrix - played a Gibson mostly, also some Fender.
I haven't seen a better band or more enthusiastic crowd in this town for 40 years.
And yes Roy, I got the pick !

Re: Alex Wilson Band

Hi Jaci,
I was shocked to see a post about Alex Wilson here - but I'm glad for it!  I've been a fan for quite some time.  I first saw Alex (minus Matthew and their uncle) in Milwaukee at Up and Under (remember, Angela, Nancy and Heidi?).  Ironically, the women were still in the mood for music after seeing Joe at Shank Hall.  I've been a fan ever since - seeing him all over Wisconsin so many times I can't count.

He will be in Wausau on July 18th (his birthday no less).  He is playing at this great new venue for the northwoods call The Fillmor.  It's an old movie theatre - lots of space to move, drink, socialize, jam, whatever.  Adam Douglas and Woodleg Odd (best blues band in Norway!) recently played at the Fillmor and loved it.  So... anyone in this neck of the woods, please come on over on July 18th!!

Kristine - of course I remember you, Angela, Heidi and Nancy - gosh we had some
fun times at Shank!  I miss you guys !   Alex Wilson knocked our socks off!  We
just don't expect to hear a band like that in Two Rivers.  Can't wait to see them
again - maybe we'll cross paths at a future show - wouldn't that be fun!
Let's keep in touch!  Jaci

Re: Alex Wilson Band

The owner promised me (I even had to give him a kiss) yikes! but he promised they'd
be back.  I don't know if we'll ever duplicate this totally unexpected afternoon of fun
in TR, but Ken and I will be there for sure.

Re: Alex Wilson Band

Alex Wilson's uncle is the drummer in the band - he used to play with Bryan Lee like 30
years ago even before Bryan moved to New Orleans.  Glad you liked them.  BL is playing
August 9th in Two Rivers outside fishing festival.
