went to see clapton last monday,he was fantastic.he played a mainly blues set with many outstanding solo,s,especilly on double trouble and little queen of spades.he had a superb backing band of which chris stainton and doyle bramhall were especially good the sound was brilliant,nottingham arena has often been criticised over the poor quality sound but on monday it was spot on.i was also impressed with the support band which was robert randolph and the family,robert joined clapton on stage for the encore which was got my mojo working.it was a brilliant night anyone going to see him while he,s in europe are in for a treat.the merchandise is good as well he had six different t shirts on sale it was hard to choose just one so i ended up with four.clapton IS god    steve

the tone comments- "failed to mention that I thought Eric's guitar tone on this tour is much better than during the last, he is clearly still experimenting with it. The tone sounds slightly more 'dirty' and thicker to me. Even his cleaner tone on 'Wonderful Tonight' still sounded quite gritty. Maybe those who saw him with SW and in the US would agree?"
"i did notice a fatter, dirtier tone in spots at MSG (Fine Line/Split Decision comes to mind where it was said that Eric found a sound equated to pulling a 500lb bass up from the bottom of the Mississippi) and in comparing Little Wing from last year and this year, i can particularly hear increased thickness in ending chords of a phrase (??).

Sorry I didnt do my write up, last nite i got caught up sad basically what stevea said same set list and Robert Randolph was awesome.... Truly has set my fire going playing guitar again :X

I was hoping to hear littlewing it being my favourite song etc that was my only disappointment.

As a Clapton sceptic, have have to say that's a pretty good setlist. I'd have replaced no16 with Sunshine Of Your Love though!
Did anyone go to Hard Rock calling? I'd be interested to hear a review of that!

hi angela thanks for that,i appeciate it.incredibly it was the first time i had seen him,but it certainly won,t be the last,hopefully.as i said the sound was brilliant,clapton,s guitar sounded superb.i have been looking on you tube for little queen of spades as that was one of my favourites on the night but can,t find the version he did at nottingham.don,t know if anyone bought a programme but they were really good.they cost £10 but unlike some i,ve seen it was interesting,it told you about all the guitars clapton has played since he started out with the roosters.i thought it was a good read  steve
