Topic: IT'S MY LUCKY DAY!!!!!!!!

I was pulling into my bank at lunch with the radio on KFOG in SF and heard the DJ announce a contest to win a pair of tix to see Mark Knopfler Sat. night in Berkeley. They played the intro to three Dire Straits tunes and I gave it a shot. It was busy four times and I decided to give it one more try, BINGO it rang and I got in and answered Tunnel Of Love, Water Of Love, & Sultans Of Swing and won the tix. Not just any pair of tix they're in the front row!!!! I've got a long day ahead of me tomorrow as I'll be in Monterey to see Joe in the afternoon at The Monterey Blues Festival and then jump in the car and beat it to Berkeley for Knopfler. It'll be well worth the effort.

Re: IT'S MY LUCKY DAY!!!!!!!!

I agree! You are a LUCKY DAWG!! It's about time you started putting all that musical knowledge to work!! Next, go to BluesWax and take that trivia quiz. You can win a stack of CD's!
I saw Dire Straits in Georgetown when they 1st hit the shores of America. I adore Mark Knofler..He's in my top 10! I love his work on the new Sonny Landreth CD. Remember "Don't run with the big Dawgs if your going to pee like a puppy"... Make us proud or even a little ashamed:)  Sister Cate

Re: IT'S MY LUCKY DAY!!!!!!!!

Would be nicer the other way round: to see Knopfler first and Joe on top, but anyhow: congratulations for a great musical journey!

Re: IT'S MY LUCKY DAY!!!!!!!!

It's my lucky day too! Thanks for the call Dawg! Nothing like a bit of "Another Kind of Love" to make my Saturday Joeful!!! I know some people can't stand the way the music sounds via the phone but I ALWAYS think it sounds just fine...esp. using the speaker phone! So all of you...feel free to call me from any Joe show!!!!!        Sister Cate

Re: IT'S MY LUCKY DAY!!!!!!!!

My thanks too Dawg, Cathy and I were 'live' when you called so I got to hear Joe from California to Amsterdam via the Maryland woods.

Ain't the internet a wonderful thing? big_smile

Re: IT'S MY LUCKY DAY!!!!!!!!

Mark Knopfler is playing the Mann Center in Philly on July 26th, and I want to go so bad (having never seen Dire Straits or Knopfler before), but I'm not sure it's gonna happen.  I will actually be at the Mann Center the night BEFORE that for The Machine (Pink Floyd tribute)... I see them all the time, but I can hardly wait for that one, because it's gonna be a real special show, with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and a massive laser show (same company who did it for Waters... I saw it in Burlington VT last summer and it's awesome).  Well anyway, since the Mann Center is a 2 hour drive each way for me, ideally I'd like to stay down there for the night (there's even a hostel right there in the park where the Mann Center is, which is cool since I'm poor, lol), however my husband will be with me for The Machine show, and he's not interested in Mark Knopfler, and we'd rather not take separate cars, and I'd hate to make the trip two days in a row.  I may just take that last option though, if my husband would agree to me spending money on yet another concert ticket plus the gas and turnpike tolls.  What I'd really like to do is find someone to go with me... first of all it would be nice to have company for the ride, plus splitting the gas and tolls would be a selling point to my husband, lol, but also you get a his new CD for free with the purchase of 2 tickets online. wink  So if there's anyone here from the Harrisburg PA area who'd be interested, let me know.

Well anyway, J Dawg, congrats on winning the contest... I think the only concert tickets I ever won from a radio station were for R.E.M. hmm... and it was a Grateful Dead trivia question, lol. roll  I wasn't a big R.E.M. fan (I still went, took my husband-to-be, who appreciated it more), but along with that I won a bunch of other cool tickets for local stuff... and then, later that afternoon, they also pulled my name from the 5 names who had won the lunchtime trivia all week, and I won a $600 Sony digital receiver (this was when digital receivers were just coming out), which was cool because all my equipment was Sony and my receiver had problems, lol.  And I almost never win stuff.

Anyway, J Dawg, enjoy both your shows... be safe... and be sure to let me know what the Mark Knopfler show was like! smile
