I talked to Joe at the Canton Blues Fest about his Les Paul. He told me that you can get one now, all you have to do is call the Gibson Custom shop. Retail should be $4500. or in that ballpark. I saw it at the show and my wife is about to kill me because I have to have one!!
I think the Retail will be a bit more, but it seems there is no confirmation on the actual price.
I have heard $6900 to low of $2850 & now this price of $4500 on this post. Well whatever it is the Custom shop guitars are worth the money because they are not mass produced like the regular Gibsons are. It reallty looked and sounded great at the Canton blues festival on Friday night. I forgot to ask Joe at his bus on the actual price...: (
$4,500 seems about right...it's not something I could ever afford at this point (I'm saving for a trip to Europe after my senor year...) but that price seems on par with other Custom Shop prices.
Ok GUYS & GIRLS...the official MSRP is $6941 List for the limited run of 300 Goldtops .(from Gibson)
so you can figure in your discount from there, typically 35-40 percent (4511-4164) ballpark range.
lol out of those 300, how many does Joe own? at least two?
Why is the JB Paul going to be a limited run of 300? Is Gibson testing the water for how well the product will do?
I talked to a Gibson Custom shop dealer today and was quoted $4150.00. He also told me there is NO limited production, so when ever you want one , you should be able to get one. I also talked to Gibson custom shop and they also told me there is no limited run on these. Now they may be making 300 and see how well they sell, but I believe that when you want one, you will be able to get one. Joe did tell me that they are strung with 11 gauge strings and set up for the heavy gauge. Should be a killer guitar!!
Niiice! Sounds good. And now that Gibson is bringing back the custom one-off orders it should be easy to pick one up from a reputable dealer. Now the only issue is money....
I'm comfortable keeping the product in the custom shop only. that guearantees superior quality. they're starting to do that with their SG's with the P90s in em too I heard.
What I meant is it should be easier to find them because now dealers don't have to order 20 to get them in store.
There will only be 300 Joe B's LEs paul Goldtop made..so if you want one you better put your order in-soon!

Ok were getting a "not a limited run" from one new guy and a "limited run" from another. Where are you guys getting your info?
I got my info via a phone call to Gibson. I did ask the person that I talked to if there was a limited number that are going to be made and I was told " No, this will not be a limited run". I then asked, just to be sure, " so if I place an order for one 6 to 12 months from now, will I be able to get one?" The answer I got was"Yes, you will be able to get one any time you want".
I just called Gibson again to confirm this information and I was told that this IS A LIMITED RUN OF 300!!! So I was given some bad info by two sources yesterday. The official word is the run is for 300 only!! Get your orders in if you want one. Sorry for the mis-information, but I was only passing on what two sources that I deemed to be reliable had told me.

I couldn't help but smile at the Strat advertisement which was tucked into the middle of that Gibson article. Funny stuff...
I asked Joe about his new les paul on sunday night after the kettering show... my wife jumped in and asked "is it chambered?" Yeah I know I tend to fill her head full of a lot of things, but hey she listens... anyway it caught Joe totally off gaurd. He raised an eye to her and was like "no, but thats a really good question." He said that they are using the lightest mahogony they could find so that they wouldnt chamber/weight relieve it. Which is great to hear because all the new les paul standards are light as a feather and tend to have a muddier sound due to drilling out the mahogony. Hmm...wonder what I can sell to fund this sweeet sounding les paul?
ohh and he mentioned something about them doing a black one later on..we'll see
