Topic: RIP George Carlin

Just heard on the news that George Carlin died of heart failure in LA earlier this evening at the age of 71. He and Richard Pryor pushed the envelope when it came to comedy and paved the way for many who will never come close to what they achieved. George's signature routine, the 7 words you can't use on the air. Obviously I can't repeat them here either. The comedy world is a little less funny tonight.

Carlin was one of a kind, that's for sure.

Re: RIP George Carlin

This was not a great way to start the day. I loved Carlin. He was a voice of sanity in an insane world. He will be sorely missed.

I'm just saying.

Re: RIP George Carlin

George will be missed by millions of fans, myself included.  I am wearing all black today both out of mourning, and as it was George's signature outfit.  There will never be anyone quite like him again.

Re: RIP George Carlin

RIP George and THANKS for all the laughs! big_smile  I'm trying to remember, I think it was George who first made a joke about cutting those white tags off your mattress that say its prohibited by law to remove...George had a way of connecting with topics that you may have thought of yourself, but never mentioned, funny guy.

Mindy- I feel like one of those Amazon advertisements, if you like that "Stuff" segment with George, you'll definitely like this song by Eric Bibb from Natural Light called "Too Much Stuff".  I first heard the song on Sirius 74, I chuckle every time they play it. Treat yourself to a .99 cent purchase off of itunes, the lyrics are hysterical!  "I ended up with too much stuff, no matter what it cost me, I couldn't get enough..."

Re: RIP George Carlin

Every time I catch a rerun of the Jerk with Steve Martin I think of George when they lose the mansion and he or Bernadette Peters says, I'm not gonna miss the house just all the stuff.

Angela, I'll definitely check that out, thanks!  Every time I hear the "Stuff" routine by George I wind up crying from laughing so hard...I can TOTALLY identify with that!

Gotta go out now to get more stuff. lol
