Topic: TURN RIGHT BUBBA

Had my first NASCAR experience on Fri. when a buddy called and invited me out to the Infineon Raceway with him. It was 102 outside, but we had passes to a tent w/ fans sponsored by one of Duwayne's business assoc.'s and we got picked up and shuttled every where in golf carts. Got to watch qualifying round and caught some live music and met and chatted with Guy Fieri from Food Network as he was picked to be Grand Marshall this year, being a Sonoma County local. As much as I'd love to see the actual race I can't imagine trying to function in a crowd that size, besides I've got a cool bird's eye view from my couch today and my beers don't cost $8.00!!!! Maybe one day when I can watch from an air conditioned suite and come and go by helicopter. The two roads into the track from my side of the Bay are one lane in and one lane out, you can't even imagine the traffic nightmare this creates. I always enjoy watching this one, since it's in my own backyard and Watkins Glen. These two races seperate the true road racers from the oval only guys not to mention the radical changes in the set up of the cars.

I wonder how Joe went over with the race fans? Last Fri. I saw a tribute band called The Unauthorized Rolling Stones play to all of about 25 people while absolutely nothing was happening on the track. I looked at the other photos with the one you posted and from what you can see everybody behind the stage is looking at something else.

I'm not Tara, but I was there, too.  That was my first Joe experience.  He only played 4 songs, but that was enough.  I have pictures from that day-I usually do not have have my camera with me but for some reason I did that day-and got some of my all-time favorite Joe pics [nothing beats natural light for good pictures with a not-so-great camera.]  My son had been raving about this guy for months, you gotta see him, etc.  Stu's narrowing generation gap thing strikes again-my son was so-o-o right.  The set-up was interesting as you can see from Tara's pictures and unless you were standing right in front of the "stage/flatbed truck" the sound was horrible!  New Hampshire speedway usually puts on a show after the race to give people something to do after everything is over, keep the traffic more spaced out.  Usually it is a really bad Elvis impersonator.  The first year they promised Reba McIntyre-that never happened-my husband is still waiting to see her [Where's Reba? he yells after every race-he'll never give up].

A fond memory for me-my Bonabaptism!
