Topic: Rochester Intl. Jazz Festival

I'll be heading up that way in a couple of hours.  I'll try to get some good pics and post them tomorrow. There are thunderstorms coming by my house now.

Joe make sure you've got GFCI's on your rig and wear your rubber soled boots :-)

Re: Rochester Intl. Jazz Festival

The weather cleared up wonderfully for the show. Not even a brief drizzle!

The show started off with "Bridge to Better Days" and "So many Roads"; Joe playing the gold top LP:

Then he switched to the Gigliotti for "Mountain Time":

"Another Kind of Love" and "Sloe Gin" with another Les Paul (dark burst?):

Yamaha acoustic for "High Water Everywhere":

Yet another Les Paul (plus top?) for "Your Funeral and my Trial" and "Don't Burn Down that Bridge":

Back to the Yamaha acoustic for "Woke Up Dreaming".

Back to the Gold Top for "Just Got Paid" (with the "Dazed and Confused" licks).

Joe played a Yamaha 12 string acoustic for "Ball Peen Hammer":

The show wound up with "A New Day Yesterday" and "Starship Trooper" with Joe playing the dark burst.

Great Pictures! Thanks for posting them. I love the new version of Don't Burn Down that Bridge, what did you think of it?

Re: Rochester Intl. Jazz Festival

Yeah, I liked the new arrangement! As I've posted on other threads, I wish Joe would have one of his shows this year videotaped. It's time for a new DVD!

RIC - By your pictures, it looks like I was about 10 feet to your left.  The weather was great timing - you're right!  We came in from the east and drove through a big storm a couple hours before the show.    Then headed back out it looked like it was going to rain again.

Pretty good show, brought two JB newbies this time: my mom and my cousin.  Both were very impressed, but my cousin is a musician type and was not only knocked out by Joe's playing but also by the quality of the band.  He kept trying to clap for Rick during the middle of songs.

Did you see Joe get a little mad when his guitar swap wasn't ready during the encore? wink

I guess good roadies are hard to find ;-)

I like the sound of the current lineup. JB has done well so far with his bandmates. (Not that I have any qualifications as a musical critic). I remember hearing stories about Frank Zappa (who besides being a musical genius was also a workaholic) who kept juggling the lineup in the Mothers because some musicians wouldn't put in 14 hours a day in the studio to get a track just perfect.
