Topic: In Memory Of Lowell George

A little reminder of the huge talent of Mr Lowell George who sadly passed June (29th) 1979 at just 34 years of age.

Play some Little Feat on that day, remember the man and enjoy the groove.

Peace

Re: In Memory Of Lowell George

Thank you for the timely reminder Geoff, you have just warmed both elders' hearts with this!

I don't suppose anyone here is not aware of my feelings about Lowell and the Feat in those days, I have made them clear on many occasions and I've tried to stimulate the board too -

I will celebrate by watching the video of Little Feat Live at Rockpalast, which Andre and I had been fantasizing about for ages but couldn't find anywhere when - one more coinkydink - Cathy discovered that she had a virgin, still wrapped copy which she only discovered when she started on her great clean-up. big_smile

Re: In Memory Of Lowell George

Thanks Geoff, makes this day special for me too. I will surely play some feat today"I'll start with the live CD -Waiting for Columbus-
I saw them only once live with Lowell at the Pinkpop festival back in the seventies. Was already a fan from their beginnings, but when Lowell died the original feat passed away for me. But in 3 weeks i see the current line-up at Bospop and wonder how they are.
Heard the live CD - Live at neon- is that correct and no... the old Feat was my cup of tea.

George send me that Feat video, I'll make DVD's from it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!or you can give it to me at Bospop.

Re: In Memory Of Lowell George

Little Feat has always been one of my all-time favorite bands.....and Richie Hayward is my hands-down favorite drummer (sorry Bogie.....but yer in the same class!!)

I saw them twice before Lowell passed, and still get goose bumps thinkin' about it.....

I've kept up with them a little over the years.....I thought the Craig Fuller era was good, and Shaun Murphy has one hell of a set of pipes.....their version of "It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry" is incredible.....

That's a testament to how good the band is, but it's not possible to get back what once was.....Lowell George was one of a kind.....

At July 23th Little Feat are playing in Nürnberg (Hirsch). I only have older LF-CDs and I like very much "Waiting for Columbus". Did anyone see and hear the new LF formation in the last time??

Libby saw them at Doheny but there is very little about them buried in the epic Doheny Postzilla (Libby's review of the festival).

Andre and I have decided that the time is right after a gap of 30 years to see them live again, which we shall do at the Bospop festival in Weert, Holland in July. I'll be happy to report at length then.

I know, I know, Lowell didn't write that one, but still a Feat fave of mine. Think I'll have some Dixie Chicken fer dinner.

.........and today is the day to dig out your old Feat albums and remember Mr George.

Re: In Memory Of Lowell George

As I've said often, Little Feat was my favorite band "back in the day". I think that made it hard for me to warm to them after Lowell died. I saw many incarnations after, never had a bad experience, but it wasn't the same. The last show, 2yrs ago?, was a great show. The rhythm section, piano, all still stellar, but I don't enjoy the lady singer. Again, I think I'm biased because of the Lowell years.

I prefer to remember birthday's but I miss Lowell all the time! Does anybody else remember when they played the SNL Xmas show?? (I know, I'm really old).....Cathy

Just one of our many cosmic coinkydinks that the Feat were MY band of the 70's. I loved them to death and was shattered by Lowell's death. What a guitarist, what a singer, what a song writer!!

I will be seeing my once most beloved band for the first time in more than 30 years on July 13 with my good friend Andre. I hope that I can watch the show without just thinking of Lowell.

Now watching this in his honor - http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=fEOlTZGuL … re=related

Hey Cath.....this one's real sweet:

And fitting.....Lowell George was THE Rock 'n Roll Doctor.....

I searched for "little feat snl" on youTube, but the results were all scantily clad, very healthy, young women.  (I'm serious!!)  I won't be detered, though.....and I'm willing to do whatever it takes, even if I have to look through them all.....
