Topic: Robben Ford Sunset Gig

I hooked up with Bluezman Sat. evening for the first show in the California Maritime Academies Summer Concert Series. Summertime at the Maritime is a free concert series that runs through Oct. Last nights show featured local favorite Alvon Johnson who played mostly an acoustic blues set. Robben Ford headlined and as always blew the crowd away. These concerts are held on the Maritme campus lawn next to the shoreline of the north SF Bay. The view is spectacular looking out on the water and the new Crocket Bridge behind us. The only down side is being on the Bay in the evening as the fog approaches the wind picks up and the temp. by the end of the show was about 55 degrees. Needless to say layers of clothing were applied. The cool air prompted many of us to dance our butts off to keep warm and Robben oblidged with plenty of booty shakin' blues.

Re: Robben Ford Sunset Gig

Thanks for the vibe.  Robben's tour brings him east soon.  I will see him this saturday (6-21) at Ramshead in annapolis.  table 109 early show.  Life is good.
Really good.  Did 3 live music events in 6 days last week - joe x 2, and then rachmaninoff's 3rd piano concerto (BSO).  mixing it up a little.  Shoulda worn my new Joe t-shirt to the symphony.  HA ;/

Re: Robben Ford Sunset Gig

Angela & Dave,

You guys are in for a treat, Robben is one the the best players around these days. You'll have the advantage of not seeing him in adverse weather conditions, he apologized and begged out of an encore because his hands were numb. As Mark Twain once said, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco".
