Les Paul 93 today! I hope I can still get up at 93 and he still playing gigs! Thanks to him we probably wouldn't be on this sight! If there was another thread I apologize,I'm good at repeats!

My Grandpa was the the same age as the Waukesha Wizard - Les Paul, and he passed away over christmas.
Their generation was one of inventors. My grandpa innovated an electric can crusher for personal use, and has been recycling crushed aluminum cans for over 25 years. He also makes bird houses for purple Martins, a rare bird. They end up looking like condominiums for birds, as they have holes for multiple families of birds. kind of like this, only bigger and nicer

Happy Birthday LP. Hope for many more.
Happy Birthday Les! We share the same birthplace.
For any of you who haven't seen it already, check out American Masters "Les Paul Chasing Sound". I believe it was originally aired on PBS.

I think it might be available on DVD also. I watched it...very cool. I really should get to New York and see him play one Monday before the inevitable.

you can get it through Netflix. Nice. Very nice...
93 is the new 55, Happy Birthday to Les. You know Les Paul is Steve Miller's godfather, but in all the times I've seen Steve I can't say that I've ever scene him play one of his godfather's guitars. Anybody out there got any evidence that he has? Anybody know if Joe has met up with Les in the past?

Vintage Guitar has run some nice stories about Les Paul. The issue that just came, August, has one of the coolest letters to the editors, about the previous featured story from this issue. (July) My husband brought it to my attention as a description of himself and I think, just like thestepchild said, if it wasn't for Les Paul...

The letter to the editor looks to be from a baby boomer who got totally turned on, February 9th, 1964, when the Beatles debuted on Ed Sullivan. "I was in fourth grade, and walked around for weeks with an extension cord taped to a ukulele. For four decades I have played, bought, sold, traded, repaired, built, tweaked, read about, listened to, looked at pictures, album covers, movies and dreamed about guitars. Over time I had remissions, and I do believe that once you've got it - you're done. " David Carver, Houston, Texas
Good stuff...:)
