Topic: Not just lurking anymore

The fun of the two shows yesterday and today at the birchmere has got me posting.  Not sure we've been introduced.  Guess I should say hi.

HI !

I have been a member, but only an occasional reader here in the past.  That said I have been a big joe fan for a few years, since first introduced, have seen him 5 times now (yest and today were 4 and 5), own all the CD's, some autographed.......

Live in Annapolis - so glad to see he is returnig to our local venue in October.

I also am due for a trip to seattle to see family soon, so maybe will time it for bumbershoot (around labor day), and catch him there.

I know I saw a few of you at the shows, just don't know who's who.

Nice to e-meet you all,

Dave
aka Blue Heron

Welcome aboard Dave.  Glad to see you.  Even happier that you just got to see Joe - TWICE!!  Yippee!

Well, if you've been lurking for a while, then I probably don't need to tell you how much fun we can have around here.  LOTS of great people.  Truly.

P. S.  Are you a birder??

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Not just lurking anymore

Welcome to the forum Dave. Glad you finally decided to stop loitering with intent to join and did it. You must be feeling great having had a big dose of Joe. Can't wait for my next dose when Joe and the guys play Liverpool on July 7th. Hope you get to see him again really soon.

Re: Not just lurking anymore

Hi Dave. Must be the heat that brought you here. The Birchmere shows were the best!! I'm glad you've come out of the shadows. Post away!     Cathy

Hey Dave:

Blue Gigliotti?  If so, we certainly met.  If not, we likely met.  Look forward to seeing you at future shows.  Welcome in from out of the shadows, into the light.

Bonamania is a disease with no cure.  Give it to all your friends.

Re: Not just lurking anymore

Blue Giliotti was mine, very nice meeting all of you both nights. Roy took  a great picture with Joe, me and the guitar! Joe loved the guitar, said it was nicer than his! Maybe just being generous, it is nice though!

Re: Not just lurking anymore

I work with dr dave of the blue gigliotti, so we sat together - both nights.  I only get some reflected metallic glow.  I was the tall guy.

suspect I will see many of you locals in October in annapolis.
I followed the link to Joe's "Baby Grand" date in wilmington in october, but the Grand Opera House site doesn't list the show yet.  That's close enough to travel  The Grand itseld is a very nice venue - I've seen Charlie Musslewhite, Keb 'Mo, Dr John and some others their.  I think the baby grand is a newer, smaller adjaacent venue.  Might need to check it out.
My daugher - who had her bona-baptism on sunday - will be at U Delaware in the fall, so that's an excuse for a trip up there.

I can see now that the risk of hanging around this site - is a bigger ticket budget, and more travel.........

Yep, that could be true ... but it´s so worth it, you know - seeing Joe alone is a very special event, but meeting Bonabuddies AND seeing Joe together makes the fun more than double smile

Welcome to the forum!!

Re: Not just lurking anymore

Did you go with the 50's thick neck profile or the 60's thin?, what color? gotta post a photo.  I loves mine a ton.  Tone like you would'nt believe. As they said in Indiana Jones...You chose wisely! enjoy.  Joe likened Patrick to Tucker of the Automobile fame.  A work of art but so few know of them or can get access to one! awesome guitar, one you will never sell.
The Blue Heron by the way, is a man of great musical knowledge and taste, a true gentleman and a great guy.

Re: Not just lurking anymore

I ordered the Gigliotti GT in Tobacco transburst with the thick fatback neck
and Lindy Fralin Blues pickups. I'm more than curious for that one.
But of course I will announce as soon she had arrived and post many pics.
Have you ordered yours? Is 4 months building time realistic estimated?

Re: Not just lurking anymore

Mine was a 15th anniversary present from my awesome wife.  She and Patrick worked on the project for apparently 6 months.  My wife is not a musicain so Patrick guided her through the process, I knew nothing about it until it showed up UPS on our anniversay.  It'll be a real treat when it comes. I have around 40 guitars, that's the one that draws everyone's eye when they come in the room.

Re: Not just lurking anymore

"about 40 guitars..."
it's true - I've seen pictures
whew
that is a strain of G.A.S. I hope to avoid.  I've been exposed for years.
I am severely infected with a few other strains - kayaking, fishing.
Then there's the CD thing....
