Topic: European soccer Championship

Hey guys,

Now that all the Americans discuss football and golf here, we can as well discuss soccer, right?! wink

I´m watching the game Netherlands-Italy at the moment and just saw the first goal for NETHERLANDS!! Congratiolations Andre, George, Marianne and Annelies for that 1:0 against the World Cup holders! smile
Woooow!!! In this VERY moment the dutch made 2:0! I can´t believe it - the Italians look pretty bad! lol

The German team has played 2:0 against Poland yesterday - I say we meet at the end game, o.k.?! wink

Blah blah blah......not bitter at all!!!!!!!! sad

Was going to boycott this tournament due to our absence but this is a good game to be honest.

The Dutch are playing well, deserve the 2-0 lead. Italy are an ageing side, and I can't see them getting far. I'd have a little bet on a Netherlands-Germany final!!

Re: European soccer Championship

My gosh, the Duch won 3:0 - what a game ! smile

Paul - I really thought about posting this thread or not, because England is not participating ... but you can make a bet for the end game and you can grumble about how baaad everyone plays without having to listen to someone grumbling about the English wink.

Re: European soccer Championship

Thanks Eva and the Dutch National Soccer Team !!!!!!

It was a very good game and it was a deserved win against the World Champion.

To be honest I bet the Italians would win with 2-1, so I was very surprised.

Eva you too congratulated with the German team. Maybe we play against eachother in the rest of the tournament.

A happy Andre Wittebroek.

( George for you too: Congratulations my friend)

Re: European soccer Championship

Congratulations to our Dutch cousins. What a game indeed and what support. The stands were a sea of orange. The men in orange thoroughly deserved their win in what was undoubtedly looking the toughest group. The pressure is really on the French and Italians now.

As I'm still employed by that Dutch bank that was recently taken over by a certain Scottish bank I feel some empathy with our cousins from the low country. As our own boys aren't up to the job, I will continue to cheer on the Dutch team from the UK.

As the headline in The Times says this morning "Ruud awakening for world champions as Holland turn on the style". It certainly was, and a wake up call for the French.

Thanks for your support Phil.

Re: European soccer Championship

What fun!!! George filled me in on the history, so I felt excited to see Holland beat Italy after 30 years. I can't say I understand all the rules, points and scoring, but I do know what it's like to have a team that never wins (Fill in any Baltimore team name). Cathy

Re: European soccer Championship

Hi Eva,
Our countries did a great job on these championship so far.
To be honest didn't really expect Holland to do this great against Italy. But our guys have done a great job last night wink

Re: European soccer Championship

Wow, a football thread here - and not started by me! What a great performance by the Dutch yesterday!!! big_smile

I reckon it was Cathy bringing me luck that did it...but it was very weird watching a game in those particular surroundings. Several people 'congratulated' me at the airport as I was still wearing my bright orange Holland shirt, which was nice.

Spain thrashing Russia 3-0 as I type.

Re: European soccer Championship

mabye some know that im half Greek and half some eastern mix i don`t know right by my self ???
its some kind of Polen or Russian .....anyway
the only thing i know  is that every country i was with has lost sad ..... witch country is your Favorit?
(out of europe? too )

Ps: Congrats Andre  wink

Re: European soccer Championship

Geko.. I like all witch countries!!!...wink, wink, nod, nod.....My biggest complaint is the clock. I am used to knowing how much time is left in the game without doing subtraction!! We count DOWN..not UP!!  Then they went into 90+ and I was really lost.... George and I went to an Italian bar in the mall, but alas...there was nobody to taunt!   4-3-2-1-Cathy

Re: European soccer Championship

There's been a mix of games so far, a couple have been excellent, some average and a couple have been really poor.

The Netherlands result over Italy was great, and they could go far. Maybe it would be good for Holland to win it and then maybe you won't try to hard against Scotland in the world cup qualifiers next year...

Its pretty frustrating living in the UK at the moment as there is so little coverage of the games in the newspapers, all they want to talk about is where Ronaldo is going to play and who the next Chelsea manager would be... yawn

So far Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Germany look the best teams in the tournament. I think there is going to be some great games to come...

"Soccer"? What's that? Two women fighting and one punches the other? Oh I know, you meant Football, right Eva? wink

Roy

I didn´t say football - I used the term "soccer" thinking of you Americans, who would understand American Football of course and molest this poor little thread with the latest results from your NFLs or whatever lol .
