somehow a metal guitar pick sounds more of a novelty than benefit. ever play with a rubber pick? Very warm sounding...I've played with US coins, and the shrill and brights are just out of control...even when strumming close to the fretboard. Plus, I have no idea this isn't a spam site.
Advertising on your first post? No, no, no, say it isn't so. First tell us about yourself and then let us get to know you a little by making several posts. There's plenty of time to sell us and Joe on your picks. Remember, no one likes a pushy sales person.
Roy
P.S. Big Jeff, I did this on your behalf. You went about it all in the right way. You allowed us to get to know just how pleasant and funny you are before selling your Salsa to us. Big Kudos for that! Oh, and by the way, if you haven't tried Big Jeff's salsa, please look it up on one of his posts. Let's just simply say, it's delicious! Right BJ?
Locked and then unlocked...OK...
Well Thanks Roy and SASS is delicious. I'm assuming that PC has checked this out so welcome?

Joe is a Dunlop Jazz III guy and that's that. As Scott Shiraki of Dunlop told me, Jazz III users are a very particular bunch. Almost forgot, Jazz III Red.
Think Green,

Hey Dawg,
Do you know (or could you ask Scott) if there's any difference between the red and black Jazz III's (except color)? I've red that guy's prefer one over the other, but I tried both and could not tell any difference. I use the reds just because they're easier to find if you drop them.
Hi Ken,
It's nothing more than different color, otherwise they wouldn't be the same pick. Joe's picks differ in that they now have his name on one side, where it normally says Jazz III and the Jim Dunlop logo on the other. I remember Joe telling me when we discussed getting his name on them to be sure they were the red ones.
Think Red,
J Dawg
Hey guys, that's what I use is the red ones. You know J Dawg, what's funny is I've got both black and red and yet to me, they feel different from one another. Almost as if the black one is a bit harder than the red one. Maybe it's just me though, based on what you said. Either way, they really are great picks and even though they're small, they feel even more comfortable using them than other picks I've tried.
Remember, this is all coming from a novice player.
Roy
That's what I've read from guitar players who choose one over the other, that the red one is "softer". I don't feel it, but that's what spurred my question to JDawg. I think it's probably just another example of us guitar player's overactive imaginations when it comes to hearing or feeling differences that are not really there.

The black one is made of a harder material I think
Red nylon, and black stiffo

Good one Nic, I didn't even think to check the website (duh!). I didn't know that they came in different tip styles either. I'll have to try a bag of each tip style to see which one I like best, I'm pretty sure I'm playing the sharpest one right now (it's the only kind the music store had).
Roy, ask Ben if you can borrow his catalog and see what it says about the Jazz III's. He got my last one and Davy Knowles got the other. Ken & Nic, checking the website, brilliant, why didn't I think of that? I've seen Joe use the black ones only because the Guitar Center they hit at the time was out of reds. I've got a large hand and they are just to small IMO. I like medium Tortec's since I play mostly acoustic. I didn't even own an electric till about 3 years ago. I never saw a Jazz III till I met Joe. If memory serves I think he told me he liked the embossed suface on both sides for a better grip, you know when he holds the pick between his index and middle finger knuckles when he picks with his fingers (totally sick). Stay dry you guys, I hope neither of you suffered any of the damage I've seen on the news. Speaking of Davy, how was BDS tonight?
Higher Ground,
J Dawg

they have bigger ones in red too.
I've got one of those that Joe or Dave gave me. I guess they used to have a tough time finding the one Joe likes best when they'd be on the road. It's no longer a problem as Dunlop stamps 'em out just for Joe.
Think Small & Red,
J Dawg
